yup stuff happens. i post what i post when i hear it from mostly coaches and it doesnt always work out like we thought, and i catch alot of flack from it when im wrong. ill be wrong again at some point, things always change.
but ill keep posting what i hear regardless of what some people may think. just like dj, i was told if he didnt attend fnl he was ours to lose. until i hear otherwise i will continue to feel good about him. reminds me of last year when everyone assumed b moore was miami bound, i believed what coach wilcox was saying and never waivered on moore being a vol.

Do they really think there will be that much attrition? Are there that many players not pulling their end of the "contract"?

if you dont work hard and compete you more than likely wont be around long. cdd will give you chances but not many, a few guys are on their last chance.

You da man Skeeter, if you say we are signing 25 then I believe it!

OH man, here comes the Cody Blanc Greyshirting threads!!!

I don't see it. Cody has other offers and said he wanted to talk to the staff about where he would play. I think the talk of KO/PR probably sold him. I do not see him commiting this early if he is greyshirting. He would look around and see what other offers he would get. A greyshirt is usually going to be a very under the radar local kid, a kid who is injured but the staff feels could come back from it in time, or a kid who pops up the last few days before NSD and was a borderline offer early in the process. JMO

Cody is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions including Kr/Pr and special teams

Kid is bigger faster and stronger than Northfleet and Gilmore.

Welcome aboard Cody.

dont be suprised if we sign 25 this year. also, dooley will most likey take atleast 1 local kid every year.

Obviously that will take a hell of a lot of attrition, but I assume that if you're saying this, you think this attrition is possible.

But what about NCAA penalties? Does this mean you don't expect scholarship reductions at all? I was thinking at least 1 or 2.

After the beating I took the last 2 months...I'm still here!

:zeitung_lesen:

Pace I don't want to get personal, but have you considered the possibility that maybe the last 2 months weren't your best ever? You seemed unhappy. No need to reply if you don't wanna.

+1

Who knows, the kid may be 6'2 215lbs in 2 years running a 4.43 and be our starting tailback.

I was very unhappy and I think I made that clear. I was just stating the obvious as I took the bashing and was still here. Others seem to get questioned about something and bail. Alot of people said when recruits started to commit I would be nowhere to be found. I'm right here!! VFL!!

CDD and staff are doing a solid job. Once we get a couple DL guys and a Santos type (235-245lb) LB on board...I will be very happy.

With coaches running off players to open schollies, I'm surprised that they're taking Blanc. Not saying the kid's not good. But I do wonder if he's somebody this team needs right now. Looks like a project. Can he close and tackle?

lol @ some of you guys hating on a kid who's been evaluated in person multiple times and given an offer. He got one for a good reason, get over yourselves.

6'1" 200lb safety that runs a 4.4, will give his all and at the very least be a solid special teamer with a good attitude. Sounds like a great pick up to me. Especially after skeeter saying we'll probably sign a full 25, great news! If kids don't earn their scholarships, show them the door and give them to kid who will.

Welcome aboard, Cody

If they are doing a solid job now, they were doing a solid job last week. Patience is indeed a virtue.:salute:

I appreciate you showing up all week and taking your lumps.

I understand why alot more teams are going to this type of thinking..I wonder how it will play out though as does this not hurt the APR? IMO...if your going to cut alot more kids loose who do not produce early...I think we should do away with redshirting kids. I know if I am a recruit and am about to commit to Tennessee and know that if I am not in the 2 deep within a year or 2 I could be dropped....I would be damned if I want to redshirt and sit for a year. I could see where this would appeal to some recruits as they know they would at least get a chance to see the field sooner. I'm not sure if this could work....but I think when we start cutting kids loose it could get interesting.

This. At first I was thrown off a little by Blanc. I have to be honest. I didn't see where he fit and what role he could play here. After looking at everything involved, I am not mad we took him. He obviously looks and performed better than Norfleet, and to me that said something. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I still think he plays safety and special teams. There is too much elite talent to beat out on the offensive side of the ball.

It's not about cutting kids who don't produce. It's about cutting kids who don't work hard to improve and be better football players and teammates. I highly doubt our staff is going to ask a kid to look around that doesn't produce a ton if he's working hard every day and keeping his nose clean.

I see him as a punt returner. I know he may not have played against the best competition but he seems to have great vision in that situation when I saw his film. Welcome aboard!

I think it's more about not showing up to work, and less about just "production" in terms of stats.

Booooom! Good luck to the local kid, I'll be cheering for this one.

Doesn't Blanc have better offers than another prospect a lot of you are drooling over, Hedegus?

Go Vols!

Beat me to it. I type slow. Good post.:good!:

Blanc has a hellava offer list compared to Heg. However, Heg is a receiver and we don't have a lack of interest by some of the big dogs.

We need speed and versatile athletes just as much as we need DTs. EVERY year we are going to have to try to find recruits who can compete at a championship level. After watching media day yesterday with Dooley, I'm in. O&W is drinking the Kool Aid.

That's fair enough I guess.

I just don't want to see guys like Tony Williams, or a Darrin Gooch who are out there fighting and putting in the work get cut loose just to make a spot for someone else. If a kid chooses to leave as he is not getting PT..then that is on them. I know alot feel TW could be just about to this point.
