if a kid shows up to practice and works hard plus attends his classes all while staying out of trouble, hes safe. i guess what im saying is, doesnt matter how prized of a recruit you are, if you do things the wrong way you most likley will not be here long. nothing is giving to anyone on this team and all newcomers have a chance to beat out anyone and play.

+1

I would be 100% behind that. I think alot of times higher rated kids get more chances and it should not be the case.

Thats exactly the way it should be

if you dont work hard and compete you more than likely wont be around long. cdd will give you chances but not many, a few guys are on their last chance.

I think it's clear that Coach Dooley does have his mind set on winning championships, and he'll have limited patience for players without that ethic.

what about Kevin Revis ? By all accounts he seemed to be a great kid that worked hard in class and on the practice field.

Besides Vandy and Tennessee, he has VaTech. That's a very good program, but not much of a list.

Of course it's not. But neither was Christian Harris' last year, and he looks to be a major contributor. Some guys just go under the radar, pick up offers laste, etc.

I love the fact that Dooley is a Free Market guy as he stated several times at SEC Media Days. He gets it.

lol @ some of you guys hating on a kid who's been evaluated in person multiple times and given an offer. He got one for a good reason, get over yourselves.

6'1" 200lb safety that runs a 4.4, will give his all and at the very least be a solid special teamer with a good attitude. Sounds like a great pick up to me. Especially after skeeter saying we'll probably sign a full 25, great news! If kids don't earn their scholarships, show them the door and give them to kid who will.

Welcome aboard, Cody

I have to agree. Like this pickup.

So, an NC State offer is greater than those 3? I'm not so sure what your argument is. The statement was that Blanc's offer list was better and it is, or do you want to look foolish and dispute that?

Kevin left to get PT. No way he would ever see the field with the talent they have brought in on the offensive line.

does that mean some may lose a scholarship that are currently on scholarship?

Losing 5 guys would not be a surprise. If JJ plays well then you have to figure he comes out early. Same for Brewer. I don't know who would be on the "failing to meet expectations" list but you can look down the roster and find several guys who have basically disappeared.

I was very unhappy and I think I made that clear. I was just stating the obvious as I took the bashing and was still here. Others seem to get questioned about something and bail. Alot of people said when recruits started to commit I would be nowhere to be found. I'm right here!! VFL!!

.

I don't think I participated in bashing you. But you weren't stating the obvious. More often you were ignoring the obvious.

If the past few days prove anything it is that NO ONE outside a very close group around the staff knows what is really going on. Skeeter is about as close as you can get and has missed on some predictions. I certainly believe he was hearing conversations that led him to believe one kid or another would be the next commitment... but that just demonstrates how tightly guarded this staff is with recruiting info.

You risk looking like an idiot if you get too up or too down when discussing this staff's recruiting effort. They just really don't let you know what they're up to.

kevin was a good kid he just couldnt bust into the rotation. he done what he thought was best for himself.

No disprespect intended but Kevin had no business being here in the first place. I'm sure he's a great kid and I hope he does well in the FCS. However I blame Fulmer on that one for extending him a scholarship offer. He should've went to UTC from the beginning. No way did he posess the skill set necessary to compete in the SEC.

no. i am not trying to mess with anyone. i am relating what i heard which is exactly why i posted what i did.

you have people who are fairly certain he is going to tennessee. i have now heard from reliable gator people that they are fairly certain he is going to florida.

thus, the statement......either florida or tennessee is going to be really confused on the 5th.

i, personnally, have no clue what the hell is going to happen.

Gotta love recruting. All we as fans can do is wait and let the coaches do their thing. I don't have a clue about DJ either. I think both coaches have to like their chances with him for various reasons.

I think that is a great philosopy.
One obvious question is, why does the Janzen Jackson situation seem to totally contradict it? I know there are circumstances of which we are not privy. However, prima facie, the Jackson situation seems to contradict this philosophy. I know I'm about to get flamed, probably, but I'm just trying to keep it real.

Great to have Cody on board! Will be rooting for him, and not just because he looks like me.

I want this thread and this forum closed. Out of all of us, not a single one is a professional talent evaluator and our opinions don't matter at all. In fact, this forum and it's overflowing opinions mean nothing. Moving forward with this would be silly. Therefore this is strictly a waste of our time and effort. Everyone go find something else to do now. :eek:lol:
That is actually more true than your sarcasm thinks it is.

Gee, O&W, there must be something wrong with the board. Your statement I'm reading was that Blanc has a "helluva list" by comparison, not that his list is merely "better" as you say now. Do I really risk looking foolish by thinking that the two schools (Vandy, and VaTech) besides Tennessee do not make a "helluva list?" Lol. Anyone interested in the list of Charlie Hegedus can check the link to Rivals. I wouldn't call his six offers a "helluva list," but Hegedus's six(with Purdue and NC State) is more than Blanc's three.

Was at a coaches clinic and my HC was talking to a coach from VT who is highly respected in the recruiting ranks and he said that the kid had a phenominal day at their one day camp on the 9th and I wanna say he ran a sub 4.4 40. They offered him on the spot along with one of our kids Daniel Reid who also ran a 4.4.

Again congrats to Cody for signing with his dream school, UT. I am of course very biased in this situation, but I couldn't be happier.

I know some on here have questioned this pickup because of the low stars, skin color, local player thing, but I can promise that none will be dissapointed in how hard Cody works. He has good size for an SEC safety and runs a 4.4. He has played mainly offense in HS, but he will transition to defense well. He did dominate Crane (WR, Texas) 1-on-1 at UT's camp while guarding him.

When I talked to him yesterday he said he is 99% sure he will be an EE. He said he wants to get into UT as fast as he can so he can lift and run with the team and learn all he can about playing safety. And he also will get some looks at returning kicks and punts I would say.

I am sure that some posters on VN will try and watch Cody play some games of Friday nights since he plays locally at Knox Central. I personally will be at all the games, home and away that I can since I am a Central graduate. I will miss a few Central games whenever I am on the road for my own football road trips, but I won't miss any when I'm in town.

Something people need to remember when watching Cody this Fall is that he plays for a team that isn't very good to say it nicely. Hopefully they have improved a little since last season, but the last few years Knox Central has been down. They have a completely new coaching staff this season and have switched the offense to a triple option attack. This is not only a new offense to Cody, but to the rest of the team as well so it might take a few games before their offense really gets in sync. Another thing to remember is since Cody is a star on a team that doesn't have much else, he will get singled out much of the year. Oppossing teams are going to put 8 in the box against Cody all year and I can almost guarantee that no team will kickoff or punt to Cody this year. Last year Cody burnt the other teams for 7 return TDs and that was in limited touches.

So for various reasons he might not put up as big of numbers his senior year offensively especially w/ ST touches, but hopefully he will concentrate at safety and on the defensive side of the ball this upcoming Fall. Hope to see some of VN @ Joel Helton field cheering on Cody this Fall.
