Yes I would call Peterman, who we offered and had committed to us while he wasn't on most people's radar and is now a 4 star and rising a diamond in the rough and a good find.

I would call Worley, the national gatorade player of the year last year and good find.

I would call Randolph, the gatorade player of Georgia and a freshman who has seen significant playing time already this year, a diamond in the rough.

This staff evaluates talent very well in most cases. I hope they are right again with this kid. Judging by what I've seen, which admittedly is only two recruiting highlight videos on youtube, he does not run a legitimate 4.4.

You mean to tell me THIS:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyEClXagMOQ

Equals THIS:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noCoJtQ-eQ8&feature=related

Harvin's official time was 4.41

He has gone against and dominated the players in camps at UT and va tech...the same players that are supposedly playing against such superior competition in other states..he has good safety size, and has been timed around 4.4 in the 40 at the camps..that's where the offers came from..if he went to more camps, he would prob get more offers.

Ok, I guess we should trust ur built in radar gun in ur head, and not the laser times at major college football athletic centers...u should get a job with the cowboys or something with such a gift.

I am not saying Blanc is a bad prospect or a bad player. In fact, I stated he was a very good high school player. I just don't see Tennessee quality in him and was wondering if anyone who has seen him play with a non biased opinion thinks about him.

The coaches might have a specific role for him in mind. Who knows how he'll turn out in college. They might have offered him simply based on his upside and potential.

Let me preface what I'm about to say with I fully support Dooley and his staff. They are excellent at finding "diamonds in the rough" (Peterman, Worley, Randolph etc.) however I'm not seeing it with this guy?...

Am I missing something here? I would call him a "good high school football player" Based on his videos anything more than that seems to be a stretch. I can't believe this hasn't been talked about more, especially with how much Devrin Young's recruitment was talked about last year. Devrin is far and away better than this kid. Blanc plays against weak competition, is slow (I'd guess high 4.6-4.7 range) and doesn't look to move great laterally... Devrin was shifty and fast at least.

Obviously we aren't recruiting him as a rb. I just fail to see why he is deserving of a football scholarship to Tennessee. I would assume we are taking him as a LB project maybe if he adds some weight? Can someone fill me in I'd appreciate it.

Racist IMO

Heck no, that top video showed a guy run over 20 TDs, each over 50 yards long. The bottom just showed a guy running 40 meters.

I'm referring to the speed of the two...

He may be "timed" at a 4.4 by his high school coach, but in terms of legitimate and actual speed there's no way he's that fast. That would mean this kid is as fast as Eric Berry. (4.46) at combine... Laser times at events like a school's camp are usually off in favor of the participant.

Zach Rogers ran a 4.46 fly 40 (meaning he had a running start and didn't start from a stationary position) kids and their coaches exaggerate times frequently.

he was timed at UT's camp in the summer, and also at a VT camp where they also offered him a scholarship on the spot. like another poster stated he would have more scholarship offers if he had attended more camps. so it looks like you know something these 2 coaching staffs don't.

I question it, but I'll reserve judgment because my question is based on almost nothing and he's going to get a shot to show, one way or the other.

Has good size for Safety, runs a 4.4 40, showed out at VT and UT camps and earned an offer from both Dooley and Beamer. They must see something you don't. Granted the numbers are tight and we have needs all over but if the staff thinks the kid can play and deserves a scholarship, I have no problem.

Take a couple guys like DY and Sapp. Sapp was a 2star who was set to attend ECU and CDD offered him after being hired. Sapp has played very well on both special teams and as a backup LB and he's only a sophomore. DY had no other offers. None. And his very first touch on a punt he breaks one for 40 yards and would have housed it if one of his teammates didn't pull up on a block. He's also shown many more flashes in his limited touches so far, as a true freshman. What I'm getting at is until this staff completely whiffs on a prospect, threads like this have no credibility. Because as far as I can tell they seem to be pretty damn good at identifying talent that most staffs miss on.

Who are you to decide who IS or IS NOT deserving of a scholarship to Tennessee?

The fastest 40 time I ever ran (I was a sprinter in high school and ran an electronically timed 10.9 100 meters and 22.1 200 meters) was a 4.6.

I could run a fly 40 in about 4.0 seconds flat; and a 4.6 running from stationary position.

Rogers is faster than I was, so I'm guessing he can do better than what is claimed above.

And, there's no doubt in my mind that I could have outrun Marsalis Teague or Iz. Lanier in a 100 meter sprint.

Everyone was saying DYoung didn't deserve a scholly til he touched the ball once and almost housed it! It was the best looking punt return I have seen in years from someone in Orange! Funny how this Fredwhite2 guy was probably dogging CDD for Young before that play. Cody Blanc is this year's DYoung. He may be average or terrible, but he could come in and be sensational! In four years we can look back on this class and have a better view of how Dooley evaluates talent.

PS- Zach Rogers is one of the fastest guys on the team. Eric Berry nicknamed him "White Lightning" for that very reason. I think some people on here see a white guy and just think "oh he is white, he has to be slow..." The stereotype fits me perfectly, but Zach Rogers and Cody Blanc debunk that notion...

I was a little shocked to see that the gatorade POY was in the rough.

What I was trying to say with both Worley and Peterman was that our staff was one of the first to offer both of these guys and had them wrapped up before they gained national recognition... Look at Peterman's offer list. Case and point. At the time of his commitment (this summer) he was a 3 star and was only offered by a few schools. I'm sure had he not been solid to us that more schools would be coming after him now that he has been named the #1 qb in the state of Florida. The same situation goes for Worley as well. We get him committed early then he gains national recognition and the offers start rolling in, but our staff evaluated and found him before most other top programs in the country. Those are the points Im trying to make there.

I'm sure Rogers has gotten faster after being in a college S&C program for 3 years now... I said in high school he was timed at a 4.46 fly 40. That is 100 % true because I was there and saw it myself.

These were the same people who questioned Devrin Young's scholarship offer. Now they're buying #19 jerseys.

People don't like ZR because he cant catch.

ZR does have hands. But how well they catch a football is the question. He did make a very tough catch this past weekend. The thing with ZR is he is not consistent in catches. He is pretty consistent in drops. But when he does make a grab, it usually is pretty nice.
