'12 TN ATH Will Redmond (MSU verbal commit)

I am not a premium member on VQ...

anyone care to share what they are saying about Redmond? I see that he's committed as of now to Miss State, but obviously there's something here...

Tennessee defensive backs coach Terry Joseph was with Redmond Monday and the conversation wasn't centered just on football.

"It was good. We really just talked about some things they do defensively and things like that, really. It wasn't just about football and things I know about Tennessee already because I know a lot about Tennessee already," Redmond said. "He was just, pretty much just telling me what was going on with the program and that stuff.

"It would take for them to make me feel at home, make me feel somewhere I belong," Redmond said. "Because every time I'm at State they make me feel at home."

Tennessee will likely try that and there's already a degree of comfort with them.

"It's just a good school and plus it's instate. You can't forget where you come from. They're my instate school and that's one thing going for them," Redmond said.

I do not think we will end up with Redmond, but if, for some reason McNeil leaves I think Redmond would be a nice replacement.

From what I heard following the All Star game here in Memphis last week, I would not consider Redmond committed to anyone.

MSU really, really wants him though and they are fighting hard to keep him.

TOS article said he plans to take an official visit to Tennessee next month. He must have been impressed with his visit with Terry Joseph last week.

Too many people that don't have any coaching knowledge are calling for him to be replaced. He's the Recruiting Coordinator, and coached secondary ranked 12th in the country. Regardless of opinionated talk about his on-field production with the DB's, results don't lie. He's got UT in on McNeil, Redmond, & especially Collins, where if it weren't for him, Collins wouldn't sniff us.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but the 12th ranked secondary is a stat completely inflated by playing UK in the last week.

And not just Kentucky. Teams pretty much ran at will against us so they didnt have to throw it much. But when teams had to pass on us they were very successfull at it. Now i will say when we had Lanier and Waggs at CB and Randolph and Brewer at Safety that was our best tandem and the best our secondary looked. Plus Moore,Coleman and Gordon played well at times so the potential is definately there. When we have Teague at CB and Waggner at Safety results usually werent good. Espec Teague. He just looked lost, couldnt cover nor could he tackle. There was so many times you see him out of place and running around looking lost. Really wish they would move him back to WR. He looked better there,IMO.

Once again I try to tell people this about the Memphis kids. Most know about and like UT football. Im not saying it makes them locks or anything, its just not some foreign land where they hate UT, like some believe. A few years of building good relationships with Memphis again is all we need.

Just to clarify, the underlined portion is your comments, not Redmonds, right?
