'12 TN ATH Will Redmond (MSU verbal commit)

Once again I try to tell people this about the Memphis kids. Most know about and like UT football. Im not saying it makes them locks or anything, its just not some foreign land where they hate UT, like some believe. A few years of building good relationships with Memphis again is all we need.

This is spotty. Yes some Memphis kids like UT (I was one of them), but for every Tennessee friend I had, there was also a Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Memphis, Arkansas, State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas fan too... A lot of kids hate UT because they like these other schools, just like I hate Bama. Memphis is just weird in that the city is a huge mix of teams and 4 SEC schools are closer than UT.[/QUOTE]

There's 7 closer and UK is actually a wash.

yeah I just think they'll see the direction of the program & fall in love. I mean, who wouldn't!!
:)

I must have missed the rule where UGA was guaranteed a cupcake schedule every year from now on...:eek:lol:

That was some pretty impressive direction you all showed in the SECCG

doesn't work like that.

Most of the time it does, thats a fact. Almost every one at least mentions and likes TN. I know we dont always get them due to the competition. However, the fact remains that if they were not in state kids we wouldnt be mentioned near as much or land near as many.

I would say 1. Ole Miss 2. Memphis 3. UT

Been here for several years, and that is just how it seems to me.

Naa, especially when you get out of the downtown area and into the suburbs. As far as football goes its 1)UT 2)ole miss.

Ive lived here my whole life as well, just moved to Atoka a few years ago and still work in Memphis.

If you thought our schedule this year was fluffy, you're gonna hate our schedule for next year.

How long is several years by the way? You cant judge it by the last 4 or so years around here.

I've been here for 5 years, almost 6. I've lived in midtown and downtown, currently downtown. I'll never live in midtown again. If anything, I'd move out east.

Lived across the river within an hour of Memphis for a dozen years back in the 70s and 80s. It was marginally UT over Ole Miss, MS State, Bama, etc. even back then. It never was UT in basketball.

Looks like ours gets alot fluffier too...dropping LSU and Arky...adding MSU and Mizzou...I hope that becomes official soon

This is huge. We drop playing the #1 and the #6 teams in the nation according to the current BCS standings. I'm all for that.

i don't see that happening after this weekend. redmond has a number of visits scheduled after this weekends visit. i hope we make a good enough impression that we do garner his commitment down the road.

You would be shocked how many UT basketball fans there are in Memphis now. Over the 6 years or so it has really grown, especially out east and in the suburbs. We went to a buffalo wild wings in Memphis last year during the tourney and it was about a 60-40 split of Memphis/UT fans there watching each team.

The way they're playing now, that's sure to change.

I live in Arlington right outside of Memphis. And go to church in wolf chase area. Church is about 425-450 people. And there's a split between tenn ole miss bama auburn. Ms state Arkansas and Memphis. If I had to guess I would say tenn has the edge in number of fans

4* and #240 on Scout. I told everyone that back in the Spring that Redmond would have the better year between him and Kimbrow, before the Kimbrow hate saga.

Brian Kimbrow received all the press early, but his teammate Will Redmond has really come into his own. Redmond is an athlete with the most potential at cornerback due to his size, length, and ball skills. He is currently committed to Mississippi State.
