'12 TN OL Brandon Hill

Two of our best DT's in the last 15 years were both 6-6. Haynesworth and Henderson.

I think they're more the exception than the rule..most guys that big aren't athletic enough for dt

Hill will never play DT or be considered by anyone to play DT. He is an OL all the way. I think when all is said and done he'll end up the top prospect in the state.

At what point, Montrell? I don't think he gets his weight to a manageable level until he gets in a college S&C program. His teammates have referred to him as "soft." FWIW

He sure has the ability, but he is going to have to work a little harder and cut some weight.

I think there is a good chance he will be when the rankings are next updated. Based on what some of those guys are saying I wont be surprised if he is the top prospect in the state by 247 and Scout when they update their rankings (not sure when they do that though).

I dont know if he has major weight issues or not at this point. I suspent he does. I guess he still has some natural ability and athleticism that is rare in a kid his size. It sure sounds like he really stood out at Alabama's camp though.

I heard that since he changed schools, this has been a focus, but word is that he is around 380.

He does have some natural ability, but his biggest issue is getting those lbs off. I still do not think that he is as talented as Oher, but that is not a negative in my book bc Oher was/is really talented.

I agree. Very few guys out there are as talented as Oher was. You might find 1 or 2 each year out there that are on his level and that is about it.

Either way, he is in a really weak league, so I expect this kid to look like a friggin road grader this fall.

It will be interesting to see though. Its been 2 years since he has played a game bc of the transfer.

Don't disagree, but it is possible. Your post seemed to question whether it was possible. IMO, the height is not the question. It's the weight and how well he carries it.

Would he commit if Dooley offers or are we behind teams like Georgia and Ole Miss at this point due to the late interest by us ?

we have offered.

I knew we had offered -- but how badly do you think we want him?? Do you think his offer is conditional on whether or not we get a couple ahead of him?? Do you think we are seriously in the mix for him and have a realistic chance to get him??

Always appreciative of your input here.

i think he has interest in us. i think he wants to play oline tho. he would have the chance here but would have some serious competition in front of him.

Thanks for the reply, skeeter.

Yes he would face a lot of serious competition here on the OL and because of that I am not sure we can keep his interest in coming here to play O-line. I have no idea if he has ever played DL in high school or not but if he really does have the athleticism to go with his size, it would appear to be a much easier path to playing time on the D-line.

Would you consider him high on our board for either O-line or D-line?? Are we putting forth much effort in recruiting him???

Any chance this most likely means we have missed out on McCullers? That is if we're recruiting Hill as a DT.

They are not recruiting Hill as a DT according to all the mods on all the other sites that talk to the coaches recruiting him. He's at the top of the Oline list but I'm not sure if they have a realistic shot.

I do not think that this kid is in a hurry to make a decision. To me he is a high risk, high reward kid. There is a risk on taking him because if he can't improve the work ethic and get the weight off, then he won't contribute on the SEC level. If he does, a kid at his size will have a shot at the league making some nice cash. I think he is a kid that will see his recruitment pick up a little more after some of the other OL like Humphries and such start to commit.

He says that he is looking for a good sports management program. If that really has a bearing on it, Tennessee should be able to stay in the race.

Sounds to me like the staff should put some conditions on his offer and if not met...his ship would not be renewed. If they want him under 325lbs...just state it. If he wants to be a VOL...take him and after a year at UT.. if he has not met the conditions and is not under weight and working hard...he's gone. Pretty simple if you ask me. If he does not want to go for it....let him go elsewhere.
