'12 TN QB Chad Voytik

They will take a QB in this class. They may miss on some of the more highly rated guys, but they will take a commitment from someone like a Voytik.

I think they would take a DT, LB, and RB before a QB, right now. I think if you don't land a stud QB, there just isn't a reason to take a middle of the road guy, or a project this year. Just too limited in numbers.

Who is the better propect in regards to Tennessee between Voytik and the QB at Maryville?

For Tennessee Robinette would be a better fit because he's more in the 6'5 range. Voytik is right at 6'0 I believe. I actually like Voytik better as a prospect though.

That's about how I see it as well.

I would like to get another good QB this year, but I don't think it should be as high of a priority as DT, LB, etc. JMO

As far as upside, Robinette has to have more don't you think....

I wouldn't argue that. I still like Voytik a little better as of right now though.

I think Robinette has great potential but I'm not as impressed with him as some are. I want to see how he does in his senior year.

Voytik is a much better athlete and overall QB compared to Robinette IMO. Chad is considered to have the strongest arm in state to some, and possibly the south. He may be only 6'0 ft tall, but he would be a good QB to invest in considering he's a top in state prospect and grew up a Vols fan.

I agree. You got to keep bringing in competition for that spot year in and year out. This is Simms last year and just because Worley looked decent in the spring doesn't mean he might end up being a good qb. It could go either way with him.

I agree with this. In fact, I wish UGA would offer Patton. We are not likely going to land Gunner and if we don't then I am ok with just getting a middle of the road guy and getting Eddie Printz next year with Murray and Lemay already in Athens.

I think UT should definitely land a QB this year and go after an elite guy next year. The depth chart doesn't look that amazing for the Vols, really needed to close that Scroggins deal last year.

Although, I will admit that Voytik would be a much better backup/compliment to a guy like Murray.

1st, Printz was very very impressed by his visit with the Vols. Dont count him as a Dawg yet.

2nd, I'll take Bray over Scroggins anytime. Scroggins was 2 years ago not last year. We got the QB we wanted last year in Worley, he was basically the only QB the staff even went after.

I am not counting him as a Dawg, but he is definitely leaning this way.

Right now, I have the 3 commits we have, JUCOs Lonnie Outlaw and Jalen Fields, and John Theus and Kieth Marshall penciled in as Dawgs. Anything past that is completely up in the air with CMR's hotseat.

If CMR wins big this year and "saves his job", then I do fully expect Printz at UGA next year. We could go a different direction after Ramsey or even Butler or Seagraves. I expect to get Printz and another solid QB though. He is our #1 as it stands.

Again that is all provided that we have a stable coaching staff. Richt and Co get fired and I don't know what will happen.

I did screw up the year for Scroggins, but I was mainly just pointing out that it is too bad that didn't get done. He would be great depth at QB for you guys, really mitigate not landing one this year.

Disagree. We missed scroggins and got bray in the same year. 90% of vol fans take that trade off in retrospect

We'll see what happens if we miss on Pike. If they put more offers out there it will be obvious they are going to take a guy. If they don't get a QB they want this year, they will likely take two next year. You have to have a QB for every class in this league.

I'm from the area and I honestly don't think Voytik will start in the SEC. JMO They switched to the spread for him cause his athleticism he has a strong arm but the kid folds under pressure. The reciever they had can't remember his name who also shined playing the quarterback position while Voytik was injured is a much better athelete. He will make someone a good db. I jus don't see us taking Voytik IMO.....

I wasn't suggesting there should have been a trade off. I am saying UT could have used both of them. For depth if nothing else, but I think Scroggins would probably be your starter right now honestly. Much better athlete and I think would probably be the better QB as a freshman and still as a soph. Worst case scenario though, he makes it so that QB is not a need for UT in such a shallow class this year.

I am not sold on Bray yet, he only did well in the final four games last year, all he proved is he can beat up on cupcakes. He looks good and has plenty of talent, but I am going to wait and see what he does against a real defense before singing his praises too loudly.

To be clear, I am not talking crap about Bray, just saying that the jury is still out on him for me.

That said, Bray is a top 5 QB in the SEC.

Then name the four ahead of him in your opinion this season.......

I don't think we offer Voytik, if we miss out on Pike, Kiel, and Kelly which it looks like we will. With limited space in this class we should be focusing on the D-Line and Linebackers, and we could always take 2 QB's next class

I think he was complimenting Bray. He didn't say he was the "5th best" QB, he just said he will be "a top 5" QB. Nothing wrong with that.

We will take a QB regardless. Ike isn't coming here but no way we offer Voytik. Too many others out there.

They will if they find another one they like. But they aren't going to take a QB just to take one.

I agree that they won't offer Voytik.
