12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

I've said it several times... the longer Mathers goes on uncommitted and the longer Auburn fills up at RB, the better our chances will be to get him. I know he said he wanted to go out of state, but a lot can change in a few months.

He doesn't have an offer from them I don't believe. So now your statement is irrelevant, correct? Why make a comment like that if you don't have any info?

You are absolutely correct. I know zero of the situation. Does that make you feel better?

Mathers has liked Auburn the most
His HS coach does not want him going to UT, pushing him anywhere but UT.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, its just dumb to say a kid is for sure going outside of tge state if you have no info. And his coach can push him to bama all he wants, but what are the chances they take his commit? And gis fav school has yet to offer and probably won't.

So the rumor is we're pushing harder for Mathers now, but his thread has been silent. Anybody have anything solid?

Eh, who am I kidding, anybody have anything?

I would imagine that's right. He's higher on the board than Robinson, and it doesn't look like we're getting Kimbrow.

Shad does not like how UT has handled Rod but he is not telling Mathers to go 'anywhere but UT' He will let him make his own decision.

I've heard this before, but I never actually had any details. What did we do wrong handling Rod? It can't just be complaints about playing time, because three separate coaching staffs have judged the same.

Probably has something to do with him being cycled through three different positions.

I would tend to think a coach would view that as a positive. Instead of our staff just saying "well he is not going to cut it as a WR" and putting him on the end of the bench...they have tried to find him a place where he could see the field. The coaches can not make you perform, they can only give you the opportunity.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with his opinion. He's probably close to Rod obviously and sees it as Rod not getting much of a chance to prove himself at a certain position before being moved again. As if it has stunted his development.

Fortenberry said today that Mathers does have interest in Tennessee but people close to him are encouraging him elsewhere. (Rumor is it's his HS coach).

What is the deal with high school coaches in Tennessee? It seems like they point kids away from UT far more often than most HS coaches in other states. Did Fulmer ruin a lot of relationships in the state or what?

Idk what's going on. If that is the reason, its dumb, because Fulmer isn't even here anymore. Let's just blame the university for Fulmer's actions.

Philip Shadowens disappoints me. He needs to back off.

That being said, I recently talked to a friend who is close to the team, and from all indications, it does seem like he still has interest in Tennessee. I, however, think he'll probably end up going somewhere else anyway, influence or no influence.

This. He's never really been interested in UT, unfortunately.
