'12 TN RB Jovon Robinson

Kimbrow's frame could easily support 20 more pounds which would be absolutely fine. MANY RBs put on 20 pounds in college and I'm being conservative here.

I cannot believe I'm sitting here defending an offer to Brian Kimbrow right now. It just boggles my brain.

Jeff Demps - 5'8", 181lbs (gatorzone.com)

One of only nine players in the country in 2010 with a rush of over 70 yards and a kick return of over 50 yards…Led the team with 551 rushing yards on a team-best 92 carries (team-high 50.1 yards per game)…Had a team-high 927 all-purpose yards, while catching a running back-high 18 receptions for 116 yards (6.4 average)…Returned eight kickoff s for 260 yards for a 32.5-yard average, with a long of 54 yards against USF, including three kick returns of over 40 yards…

And let's not forget how many players UF utilized in its backfield other than Demps.

I found this to display my point about effectiveness. I'll take it because I fully expect Kimbrow to be better than Demps.

Eric, are you trolling here?

I find it much easier to believe you are trolling than you actually believe what you are saying.

Rivals has Derrick Locke listed at 175 coming out of high school.

A better comparison for what we'll probably use him as is Randall Cobb. Weighed about 175 coming out of high school, and now weighs about 190. Torched the entire SEC. Guess he weighed enough - even if Fulmer didn't think so.

Kimbrow could be very much like Cobb, and Cobb shined at WR, which is where Kimbrow will play some. People, I'm not saying Kimbrow can't play RB, he's just not going to exclusively play there. He's going to have a niche on the team like Devrin Young. Can you imagine a wildcat package with Young and Kimbrow in the back field, or even doing a WR reverse with either one?? Kimbrow has too much talent to put him at RB exclusively. I think you guys are trying to read WAY too much into my posts, instead of just reading them.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you guys ever read my effin' posts, or do you just want to start arguing with me??

I said that Kimbrow would be a Devrin Young type player, that plays multiple positions, which is why he's rated #1 on the coaches board.

Dear God, please read my posts for what they are, instead of trying to start a freaking argument. I'm tired of that stuff on here.

.Memphis Wooddale running back Jovon Robinson is rated as a high 3-star on this site currently but after watching him this weekend, I really think he's a four-star caliber player. The thing that was holding me back was that he lacks top end speed. I don't care about that anymore.

Barton on 247 said that after seeing Robinson this past weekend.

I hope we take Kimbrow, Mathers and Robinson. I know we already have Cross but he may play LB and Kimbrow wont play RB exclusively. So I think we take all three if they wanna come. I hope so anyway.

No way we'd take Kimbrow, Mathers, AND Robinson to go along with Cross already...

I think we just need to take 2 backs in this class with Kimbrow as one. With our limited number of spots, I think we have more pressing needs elsewhere ( DL and LB). Also, we are sitting well with a couple of backs for the next class that are just as talented if not more so ( Chaz Thornton).

But... if Mathers or Robinson want to come aboard, you can't say no to that kind of talent.

Yeah, I see us taking 2 more backs if one of those is Kimbrow.

So you think we would take Kimbrow and Robinson with Cross already commited? I think we would, lots of talent and like I said I dont think Kimbrow will be an RB exclusively.

Cross will play RB, not LB.

Correct.

Found some notes from Barton Simmons on Robinson at the 7 on 7. Don't remember seeing it posted.

Jovon Robinson, Memphis (Tenn.) Wooddale
At running back Jovon Robinson is one of the most productive players in the state of Tennessee but he’s a bigger, physical player whose strength lies in his instincts and toughness. Sometimes those players don’t see their ability translate as well in 7on7 settings but not Robinson.

Robinson’s tenacity, and toughness combined with great feet and change of direction to make him a very tough matchup on offense. On defense, he even lined up at cornerback and had a very strong weekend on that side of the ball as well. Currently rated as a three-star prospect, Robinson stated a strong case to see that star number increase.

Just me personally, but I dont consider Mathers that "kind of talent". I like Robinson better but I'm not sure they are doing a whole lot with him either.

I think they end up with 2 backs in this class, Cross and Kimbrow. They are excellent compliments to one another. One is the elite, gamebreaking speed guy and the other is the big physical bruiser.

I agree we only take 2 backs as there is a glaring need on defense and the ships could be better used there.

I think they'd like to bring in Cross, Mathers, and Kimbrow. Robinson would be a take but we've already got a bigger back in Cross. Mathers is more of a complete back than any of the 4 and Kimbrow is more of an athlete that I think will be used like McCluster in certain situations. Kind of like a Devrin Young 2.0. Bigger, stronger, faster but not as shifty. If we miss on Mathers, we may push to take a Robinson. I think we will take more RBs under Dooley, similar to Saban. RBs are valuable because they can usually play a number of other positions if they don't pan out at RB.

No doubt. The entire front 7 on defense should be the priority for this recruiting class. You look at needs and LB, DE and DT have to be the top 3 overall need areas. It is critical they improve their depth and overall talent along the entire front 7 in this class. That obviously includes bringing in probably 3 or so JUCO's at those positions that can help immediately.

The staff was higher on Mathers earlier, but things could have changed.

Super inside source on this one.

I know alot of people are ok with recruiting players such as a RB as he may be able to play LB or S if carrying the ball does not work out. If your wanting to recruit top RB's they are going to want to play RB. Unless you want to get in a situation where players are asking to transfer as they don't want to change positions..recruit RBs to carry the ball and recruit LBs to bust heads. JMO

Worked out for us plenty good in the 90s. Works well for Bama as well and a number of other good defenses. A ton of the kids rated highly at RB in HS also play LB/S/etc. Just because they are rated as a RB doesn't mean they don't know other positions.

I do know it worked well for us back in the day. While these kids did play both ways in HS ALOT of them have a preference when heading to college. Alot of recruits find out they are a RB and are being recruited as a LB and all a sudden they lose interest in that school. Same thing with TE's when the talk about turning them into OT's and so on. While alot of kids who decided to go to a school out of love for a school will make the switch, alot of kids will not and will look to go elsewhere.
