120k a year isn’t enough

I watched the first part of this. I'll watch the rest later. But from my understanding some restaurants even here in TN are paying more than the 2.13 minimum wage. I think servers wage should be at least 7.25 an hour. I think that's reasonable based on the cost of living going up. And yes people should still tip.

More Dave Ramsey/Boomer logic

I just started watching this. Not all these work from home jobs are like how Ramsey describes. I get his point but many of these work at home jobs keep track of how much you're logged in, call time, etc. It's hard to get away with being lazy with most of them. Plus many of the work from home jobs are customer service so instead of working in a brick and mortar call center they are working at home taking calls all day.

Now I do agree with some of what Ramsay says. However I've met to some of the people who teach Ramsey 's financial course and they act just like democrats when you disagree with them.

If at 2.13 an hour they weren’t still making well above minimum wage, servers wouldn’t exist. The truth is most servers do very well compared to the rest of entry level jobs

Most servers don't stay in that position very long. For the ones willing to stay more long term then the restaurants should be willing to give them raises as that is the right thing to do and rewards them for their loyalty.

Plus cost of living has increased and most places should be starting out at more than that now. I know some are.

Like you said, some are probably making better than some entry level jobs. The reality is most don't stay long and they are becoming harder to staff in many parts of the country.

As cost of living goes up so do menu prices which are directly tied to server wages. Plus I greatly disagree with this idea that anyone with a job should be able to live independently

You should have no problem with businesses raising their prices. For one you are on record here as the "private business can do whatever they want crowd". They can raise their prices as they please. Just like every other business has.

Second, the wages set are between the restaurant and the server. It can be a very difficult and demanding job therefore the people working those jobs, especially on a longer term basis, should make enough to live independently. Of course a lot of that is based on the sales the restaurant makes, service they provide and the food being served.

Yeah….I’ve never argued against either. Businesses should be able to set their wages and prices.

I’m disagreeing with your stance that you should set their wages for them. “I think servers wage should be at least 7.25 an hour”-Donjovol

That’s what I’m disagreeing with. The minimum wage for servers should be 0.00 an hour as it should be with all positions.

If you don’t like his values, don’t work for him. Seems simple
It was more than just working for his company. I really don't have much of an issue with that if you know that going in.

The issue is his boomer attitude about work from home and the other nonsense.

Well right now the federal minimum wage is 7.25 an hour and that's the system we are working with at the moment. I find it hard to believe most restaurants can't pay their servers an additional 5.12 an hour. Honestly I'm sure there are plenty that should be making more than that per hour. Like the only 2 who were working the floor last time I ate at a local Shoneys.

Yep. Some were remodeled recently as well.
The last time I went 2 servers were working the whole floor. Probably had 10 to 12 tables each at the time. I made sure the one who served us got a $20 tip. Plus she was nice and pleasant and didn't seem to be too bothered by being in that situation. But you could obviously tell they were short staffed that night.

Why does that matter? I’m sure you could pay more for the food too and be alright. Does that mean we should have minimum prices too?

And why does the thought of paying servers more than 2.13 an hour bother you?

Seems off topic, but no. I never have agreed with vaccine mandates. But I do agree with employers right to hire/fire you for any reason.
Not off topic and you now why I brought that up. Plus enough info has come out about those vaccines that shows they might not be as safe as advertised.

What is authoritarian about suggesting servers should make more than $2.13 an hour?

So are you okay with former employees having the right to file lawsuits as they please against their former employers? You have dodged that question every time I've asked it.
