Most wage workers in America are grossly underpaid--and of course, that was the reason unions were first started, terrible pay along with long hours, little vacation, no benefits, dangerous jobs, etc. American companies have a rich history of not wanting to pay people. The Wal-Mart Waltons are became billionaires on the backs of employees making little money and lousy benefits. All retail employees are underpaid; management would rather deal with high turnover than pay more to keep employees, and they can dumb the endless hiring and paperwork that goes with it on lower- and middle-managers.
And we all know why a lot of multinationals have opened plants in the South.
72% of UPS stock is owned by institutional investors like Vanguard. These funds are peoples, and unions, investment vehicle for their 401k's for retirement. What do you have against teachers retiring financially well off?
I have no problem with teachers. Despise teachers unions for the nonsense they perpetuated around the country during Covid. I can respect pay me more. I don't respect "we are so scared." I don't despise anyone trying to retire. There are several posters around VN who seem to despise teachers and resent their retirement benefits.
You can have that opinion. Some of our frothing at the mouth while watching Tucky-poo friends cant understand the nuance. You might be surprised to learn how little influence teachers unions have in a lot of states.I have no problem with teachers. Vanguard is the biggest owner of traded class B stock at just under 9%, most UPS is class A and not traded.Let me repeat. 72% of UPS is owned by institutional investors. Not board members. The remaining 28% is not owned by the board. They own some. But nothing where they can run rough shod
AI will break that pretty quickly once it happens.American workers are demanding almost $80,000 a year to take a new job
inflation will continue with such wage growth..we may be in some perpetual cycle
It will be a thinking for itself computer. It may not be there yet. But that is what AI means, something that can process on its own. In this case AI will be able to replace pretty much every office job pretty easily, as well as most manufacturing or service jobs. Theoretically a true AI would be able to do everything a human could do. As I said above, its not there yet, but its definitely coming.i still havent grasped what AI is or than advanced algorthim
So just to be clear... tell me you are not suggesting that wages are driving inflation?American workers are demanding almost $80,000 a year to take a new job

I think AI is the biggest long term threat we face. The people who are worried about lizard people space lasers, gay western death cults, and nazi rocket scientists should be thinking about AI instead. It will be a thinking for itself computer. I think unfortunately whats going to happen at first is that the powerful will "own" the AI, and be able to replace the workers.
