Rob Lewis says that Tennessee also had an in home with J3 this week...while they don't feel they are out in front, they feel they're in good position and are gonna keep swinging. Says he keeps hearing Georgetown is out in front, but that nobody feels as if any one team has it wrapped up at this point.

I don't see it being Texas, and don't think Michigan state either unless Izzo really feels J3 is a top priority.

At this point I'd say it's Georgetown, Mizzou and Tennessee...probably with Georgetown out in front and the other 2 closely behind.

So, on rivals a Vol guy basically said about backing off of JW3;

He heard they are backing off. and that Cuonzo knows whats up. says he has great potential but will only be a role player for 4 years Says hes not a top 75 player.

Any word from anybody here?

I doubt that. How would this guy get that kind of info? I don't see Martin as a guy that goes around broadcasting how bad he thinks a player is. Sounds like the guy on rivals likes to think he has connections.

Well, just checked again. My mistake. He is from the Notre Dame site, who says he is from Memphis. Don't know where he heard it from now. Kinda strange he is posting about what yalls coach thinks.

Do I think he knows what's running though coach martins head? No.

Do I think it's possible our staff thinks he's a 4 year, outside the top 75 guys? Absolutely.

That has been the consensus, that he's overrated. He has continued to fall down the rankings and that will continue to happen most likely. He can be very good, but his lack of progression over the last 2-3 years is very troubling.

With that said, huge upside with him if it clicks...a good get for whoever lands him.

Info isn't really hard to come by around Memphis. Not saying it's true but it very well could be. Like BTO said J3 has been on the decline since his freshman year.

Don't think it came from coach Martin though. That was the part I the post I was disputing. Coach Martin doesn't strike me as a guy who would talk down a players ability so openly.

Many coaches out there share this belief regarding J3. He's not a bad player, but there are problems with work ethic, motor, etc. This is not the first time I've heard that a program (not UT) has shy'd from J3 after recruiting him for a while. A top 100 player who has been convinced by someone that he's a top 10 player.

I'm not disputing the opinion, I just don't believe that Martin would be so open about that opinion that some cat on a message would have heard it. People love to make obvious claims and legitimize their opinion by associating it with an "insider" source.

If Coach Martin believes that JW3 is good enough for his program, then that is good enough for me.

Agree and I don't believe CCM woukd take him if he didn't think he could coach the effort out of him. He is quickly making this a program that doesn't have to take chances on kids, esp. if Nichols commits.

He's absolutely good enough, and I doubt the CCM cooling on him rumors are true...if they are it's because CCM isnt sure he can get the effort from him, not because of lack of talent.

Even without the effort, he's more talented than a couple of guys on the roster already.

With that said, I think its pretty likely he ends up at Georgetown.

I still believe vola are in that race. He probably ends up at grown but its not over yet and people in west TN seem to think he stays in state to vols. I would at least say its between vols and grown. Not done yet.
