13' PF Johnathan Williams III

I still believe vola are in that race. He probably ends up at grown but its not over yet and people in west TN seem to think he stays in state to vols. I would at least say its between vols and grown. Not done yet.

I agree it's likely between those 2, and that it's still a race...I just think Georgetown is the favorite at this point.

Lots can change though with 17 year olds.

Dan Wolken said on a podcast tonight that J3 doesn't want to play with Nichols in college. Some suggested that's why Cuonzo didn't have Nichols come in the Florida weekend because J3 was in town.

I've heard similar recently. I've also heard that when Hubbs committed it really lowered the chances of landing J3. Apparently for whatever reason J3 isn't too keen on playing with Hubbs...but it was more so that he felt with Hubbs coming here, that Nichols would follow and as you said, I've been heading he didn't want to play with Nichols.

I've heard similar. One version of the story is that JW3 didn't really care for his visit to UT. Heard it from another Memphis fan though, so his version was that JW3 HATED his trip to Knoxville. In reality, I think that JW3 was indignant that he had to share a visit with Hubbs, and wasn't the center of attention. Hubbs obviously loved his UT visit, and committed afterward.

It's becoming more clear to me that this kid would be more trouble than he is worth for UT. Like a said before, a top 100 player whom someone has convinced is a top 10 player. Let him go to Mizzou, or Gtown, and become the problem of another coach.

And I think that's the route the staff has taken from talkin with people. Sure they'd absolutely take his committment, but they're not pursuing him like they were hubbs or are Nichols.

Fwiw I've actually heard Michigan state has jumped up there and could be in play...think when it's all over he's still probably at Georgetown though.

I think it'll come down to who is showing him the most attention out of MSU, GTown and Mizzou at the end. UT and Memphis took themselves out of the game with him by not making him priority 1, which works out to the benefit of both schools. We'll both have great recruiting classes and JW3 gets to go out of state and play at being a shooting guard like he seems to want to do.

Is he really MSU's #1 target though? They're thought to be leaders for Jabari Parker, who plays the same position as JWIII...

It's a shame we all see the writing on the wall, yet he doesn't. Seems to have good parents, not sure who got into his head, but they screwed things up for this guy. Maybe when he goes out of state and sees things not working hell straighten out.

One thing I'll be keeping track of with great interest...the careers of AJ Davis and J3.

Well if JW3 Goes to Gtown or Michigan St he better be prepared not to score much. Both of those teams stress defense and games are 51-50 so he will certainly learn more defense than offense especially at grown.

And that's different from if he was to come here?

That's true bro but I tend to think CcM is a little more offensive minded and tends to give shooters alit more freedom if they are open. Now I suppose you could debate that but last year ccm showed me that he would let shooters shoot ir otherwise he might have reigned in j McRae a little especially in the sec tourney. Plus ccm really put alot if emphasis on shooting this offseason. So yeah some differences there.

It may have seemed that way last year, but that's largely in part to CCM not having his offense in.

If you look at his 3 years at Missouri State, they averaged just 67ppg, last years team averaged about 69ppg. The fg% while at Missouri State was also better than what we saw last year. Georgetown meanwhile over the last 4 years has averaged over 70ppg.

I think you'll see CCM reign things in a bit this year, look for us to use more of the shot clock and get the ball inside before we even consider an outside shot. I expect our ppg to stay close to the same, but our fg% to go up significantly. So basically, taking a lot less shots per game, but hitting them at a much better percentage because they're higher quality shots. That's something he's talked about a lot, taking better shots.

I do not understand why he would not want to play with austin unless he just knows he would not start in front of him.if he came to UT and stokes stays they could go big with stokes ,austin,jw3.where ever he goes there will be compation and he will not play 35 minuets a game unless he plays at some small school

I don't know for sure...but not all the Memphis kids are BFF's. Maybe J3 an Nichols just never hit it off and they prefer not to play with each other.

Man I hope so...

Me likey. Me likey a lot.

Still a chance. Has the staff cooled on him? Possibly. But nobody knows for sure.

Well he's announcing the 18th. Maybe Hubbs, Nichols and Williams have been talking and they both will announce UT a few days apart from each other. Wishful thinking right? Lol
