'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

I know you just didn't mention Cam as a possible reason.... Lynx is about to roll you up and smoke you

I mean, I hope not...we've just heard so much about this Memphis solidarity.

I thought the timing was odd, but someone said that he has been waivering for longer than that. Who knows really?

#Vols 4-star DL commit Jason Carr says he is 65/70 percent committed. Will visit #OleMiss tomorrow and probably #Alabama on Sunday

whats with the 70% committed crap? you're either committed or not. kids these days.. damn.

Don't worry guys. If he decommits, I am sure we will replace him with a 3 star project "diamond in the ruff" type of player. It'll be okay.

Man I hope we can hold on the this guy. He's the best player in the state IMO (or at least right there with Ramsey and Bell) and at a position of huge need. Has a great chance for early playing time if he can learn the play book.

He'd be a huge loss. I agree he is right up there with Ramsey as the Top prospect in the state. Along with Reeves-Maybin he is extremely underated in my opinion by these services although Rivals rated him fairly. Definite National Top 100 guy IMO.

Don't be that guy

I'm generally against the defeatist attitude but this could be a bad weekend for us. We have 2 elite Dlinemen in state that very well could go elsewhere. We know that our state is not known for the D1 football talent like other places so I can understand his frustration.

Dont be surprised to see Carl Lawson decommit from Auburn and announce Vols as his leader. I have a really good feeling. No inside info just my opinion.

Heard this from someone else last night. Are you really just going off of a "good feeling" or do you know something?

I know UZZI who seems to have some connection to Lawson has been saying for about a month now that Lawson is not solid to Auburn, and Tennessee is a real factor. Plus Skeeter has also said don't be surprised if Lawson does not end up at Auburn

Video of Carr talking commitment to UT, other schools, etc on rivals. He doesn't really sound committed to UT at all IMO. Ole Miss and Bama are posing the biggest threat to UT. Said Ole Miss sends him letters every day, skyped with Saban recently and he wants to go to a school that wants him the most. Says he has a really good relationship with Palermo but hasn't informed UT of his plans to visit other schools but that they've probably heard by now from other people. Says he'll take all 5 OV's and decide after where he'll go. After watching the video I wouldn't bet on Jason Carr being a Vol. JMO

Sad.

Man it's gotta be annoying as a coach to have to constantly "babysit" these kids who are supposed to be committed. But I guess as the saying goes that's why they get paid the big bucks

And spare me the whole "he's just a kid enjoying this once in a lifetime opportunity" argument.

I understand that stance but then don't commit. Enjoy the process as an uncommitted prospect. But once you commit be committed.

So you're against the coaches going after prospects committed to other schools as well?

Would hurt to lose Carr. Instate player at a position of need. Not to mention a Rivals250 player.

I can see your point, but I have to agree with Volssam. I think there's a difference between the staff and the recruit here. All's fair as far as I'm concerned when it comes to a staff trying to flip a recruit (as long as it's legal and falls within NCAA rules); they're fighting hard to keep their jobs and to help build and/or maintain a football program at their respective schools. As for the recruit, however, they have no jobs or programs to attend to. If they're ready to commit, then commit. If not, then wait. They'll be an opening somewhere in the end that meets their liking. Admittedly, though, I can understand being 17 or 18 and changing your mind. Regardless, I still don't think the staff and the recruit are obligated to the same standards here. Now, if the staff pulls a scholarship to a commit, then the fault is on the staff. They should know better and know when to hold out. It's all a crap shoot and crap game in the end.

You guys need to stop. All this he shouldn't have committed stuff is crazy. Our coaches just should've stayed on Carr like he wasn't committed. That seems like the problem here. We also need to win so Freeze and others can't pull the "Dooley will be gone" card.

This is true. I don't think LSU did that with Herron, but I wouldn't be surprised if any of the Mississippi schools used that card with Herron.

None of us know if the coaches were still not recruiting him, but yes we need to win in a very bad way.

As far as us needing to win of course we hope to win this year. And it will help recruiting - ESP with UNcommitted prospects. Nothing has changed with our w/l record since he committed to us has it? When he committed we were still 11-14 the last two seasons. So why should winning this yr matter here?

And as far as our coaches staying on him you don't think they did/do? But besides that this is part of my original point -- it has to be frustrating to have to continuously "babysit" someone who has given you their commitment.

Edit: why should w/l record matter RIGHT NOW with Carr. Nothing has changed since he committed to us. Now if we go 4-8 next yr I could more see him being a little antsy

Because coaches are saying Dooley won't be here(Freeze I bet). Kids think a lot about this stuff. We need to start playing football soon.
