'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

Very excited about him. All indications are he is a good kid too. I'll be happy when we are free of some of the attitude issue guys we currently have.

The big obvious one is DaRick. Should have been kicked off awhile ago.

I wouldn't have kicked him off. I just wish we had enough players where we could bench him. A lot of players have attitude problems until they're on the bench. Rogers knew we couldn't win without him making plays. So he let it go to his head. Now this year if Hunter is all the way back and CP is the real deal he'll see his time go down if he doesn't get his act together. You don't just kick guys off the team when you're in Dooley's position and thin on talent. I think what Poole did to Kiffin was as bad as anything a player could ever do(not going in the game when the coach tells you to). He didn't get kicked off. I think Rogers attitude will be adjusted well when summer and fall comes. He'll realize we have some real athletes behind him that can make some of the same plays he makes.

I wouldn't base discipline on talent level left on the roster. From all indications, Dooley is feeling the pressure and that is why Rogers has gotten away with his stuff.

If Dooley had kicked him off last year then we wouldn't have had anybody out there to make any kind of plays. There are a bunch of kids with attitude problems that get adjusted when the depth chart comes out. This WR class can and will threaten DR PT. Patterson is a direct threat while Croom and Bowles can make some of the same physical style of plays. Pig Howard and Vincent Dallas will be very good options in the slot. Also there are a lot of kids that don't get their attitudes together until their junior years. Do you think Alshon Jeffrey was a diva at WR? Because he was and he hated the weight room too. He was in much worse shape than Rogers has been in. Spurrier didn't cut him.

Da'Rick won't be anywhere near the bench.

He is a starter at WR for UT. Period.

Believe me I know that and I know how good he is. I was just stating how attitude problems get fixed on good teams.

Now back to Carr, love that he's coming here. Is a very good versatile athlete for the defensive front.

Sorry, didn't mean to start this tangent. I just love having quality kids with great attitudes. Carr seems like that guy.

Per Paul Fortenberry tweet

@Volquest_Paul: Also went by White Station to meet with Jason Carr who is massive. 6-6, 270. Donald Gray looked good, too.

He's a perfect fit for a true multiple defense. Intense, long framed athlete up front. He'll be nice on the edge in a 3-4. Then on a passing down if we were to go with 4 down linemen we could bump him down inside and put a Frank Herron(I hope) next to him. That's some big boys to deal with. Especially with a Trent Taylor and/or Vereen coming off the other side. Vereen would be the only small guy and he's just a beast getting to the QB. Would be fun to watch.
