'13 TN OT Christian Morris

so we should take a guy who probably won't help UT and will ultimately transfer out from playing time because he is instate?

How is that good situation for the player or the school?

Why would I want us to recruit someone who isn't going to help the Vols? Year after year we don't attempt to recruit alot of TN's best prospects, and it results in kids like Heron, J.Ramsey, Jovon Robinson etc. not caring about staying in TN.. I mean I'm all for getting the best guys but if you want to get the top in-state guys you have to develop a pride aspect

Feedback from Rivals at The Opening:

9. OL Christian Morris, Memphis (Tenn.) Memphis East: Morris is a big kid with a really nice frame to add weight and he showed nice arm extension and good footwork on the outside. He engaged after his initial slide out of his stance and did a good job steering defenders where they didn't want to go because of his length and use of arms. He needs to get stronger, but he has a lot of intangibles.

“I had Tennessee up there too but they filled up on offensive lineman,” Morris said. “It’s all good though because I kind of wanted to leave the state and I really like Nebraska and UCLA a lot right now."

Morris was obviously turned away by Tennessee following the commitment of offensive tackle Dan Skipper late in June. Morris now says he will commit this Thursday.

Classy to call it like it was, instead of acting like he was boss

Bull market

This award goes to the player who raised his stock the most from the camp and that would have to be Memphis (Tenn.) Memphis East offensive tackle Christian Morris. Morris has great size, long arms and he uses both to ride players to the outside. But what's really impressive is how he moves his feet to handle inside pass rushers. A mid-level three star right now, that will be changing. - RIVALS

Interesting to see Morris starting to get noticed. It's also interesting to see our staff take Skipper, a guy who's 6'10", at the OT spot.

I think Morris meant to say we are filled at the OT position, not OL. I sure as heck want Koehler.

Of course, as soon as he said he wasn't going to Tennessee, Rivals clears him for a bump up.

I agree this kid is a class act and wish him all the best. I also agree that we likely have Koehler as a silent.

SIAP: Morris will make his college decision this Thursday between UCLA and Nebraska. UCLA is the heavy favorite.
