'13 TX FS Kameron Miles

Kam Miles quote "When I got that offer from A&M, I was excited. I just felt like it gave me another opportunity to look at another school that’s got a new coach and a program that’s going in the right direction. Coach [Kevin] Sumlin’s a real cool coach."

Seems even the recruits know this ship is sinking quickly. The notion Dooley is gone sure doesn't help but the results with the talent on this team are more worrisome. Buckle in.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better, but when it gets better, it may get better REALLY fast.

I think this is the only 4* commit we will lose...I think Carr wants to be a Vol and he's close to Maybin and Sanders...he just needs to know who the new coach is and that it's someone he can believe in

Lets all be honest...this cats commitment has been shaky at best for a long time...I think this would have been likely even if Dooleys job was secure...t took this kid about two seconds to decommit once the A&M offer came...not saying Dooley being fired helped I just think this would have happened either way

"Kam Miles head"..... I think I'm gonna play for the team who has a coach, is less than 12hr drive from home, isn't 0-6 in the SEC, and just beat the number 1 team in the land.... I just went negaVOL on everyone but lets be real.

Dear New Head Coach,

Stay the heck out of Texas when looking for commits. The good ones go to Texas schools. The rest you don't want. Those that fall in the middle will bail when they get the first chance.

That is all.

Signed,
Vol Nation

PS: I'm fully aware LaDarrell McNeil is from Texas.

It was a joke. But thanks for the predictable overreaction from the recruiting forum elitists. We have had tons of success recruiting Texas. Feel free to exhaust that list for me.

Lol, quit recruiting the most talent rich state because we lost a player that by all accounts would have remained solid to us. Sure you aren't going to pull a whole class of players from the state of texas, but there is enough talent that we can pull a player or two from each class. Any coach would be dumb to turn their back on talent, and should be shown the door if he does stupid sh!t like that.

Review the last page and you'll see I said that somewhat tongue in cheek, though as I pointed out, we have had VERY little success in Texas. My point being that the best kids in Texas grow up wanting to play for Texas schools. Yeah, you may land one every two or three years on average (certainly not 1-2 per class as you suggested). I feel the majority of Tennessee's recruiting effort should be spent elsewhere, particularly Georgia and Florida, where we seem to have more success and kids are more apt to leave the state. LaDarrell McNeil (2012 class) is the first player from Texas to sign with the Vols and be admitted to school since Denarius Moore and Lennon Creer in the 2007 class. Moore obviously worked out. Creer did not.

Obviously, I don't think you completely neglect Texas, but you choose your battles wisely there IMO.

He did it the right way, unlike Santos. Don't blame Kameron one bit. A&M is getting ready to lock down the state of Texas and will be a top program in SEC for a long time

Top 5 "Hot Bed" states --- FL, TX, CA, GA, & LA. If anything, we need to increase our presence and recruit TX harder, and now that a TX school is part of the SEC, we can use that to our advantage.

No way bro. Too much competition. We need to focus on areas like Maine, Alaska, South Dakota, and Gibbs high school, where undiscovered talent lies and there is less worry

Let's hope he gives us another look. I'm in Big 10 country and told my friends that A&M is a team that scared me when they joined the SEC. Being the only TX school in the league, they can stay in state, offer local kids something other TX schools can't and have top recruiting classes annually. It's going to be tougher to pull kids from there.

I would be willing to bet that it won't be too long after sumlin gets a couple more recruiting classes in here that they will be competing for not only SEC west titles but national titles as well.

Yeah let's stop recruiting hotbed states and just go with boys in our backyard. Hell, can't be any worse than we are now right?
