'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

I'm guessing you mean the TE Rivera, who would be the other WR?

And besides we have 2 large fast 4 star WRs in Croom and Bowles, and he shifty fast slot 4 star WR in Pig Howard. The O-line returns in tact. And a senior RB in Neal and Jr in Lane who are good backs but not great. This would mean Green would have a lot of opportunity to play behind an experienced O-line in year 1.

my mistake on the 2 other WRs, i could have sworn i saw a headline or something earlier about bray and 4 WRs leaving but i didn't fact check, my bad

not necessarily, might actually help out knowing the offense would be more centered around him, who knows. but at the same time, you have to be able to run and pass to do both effectively.

as to what the other guys above said, i totally forgot about a change in the style of play. if it's something similar to what south carolina runs and green is as dominating as lattimore was, it could work out nicely

Lattimore’s coach at USC...Jay Graham. That’s been really UT’s ace-in-the-hole the entire time. CJG is the reason I’ve been cautiously optimistic the whole time.

And you could pop over to the Skipper thread and try to explain what the heck he’s OVing to Michigan.

i understand your point with JG and Lattimore but at the same time i think, with the talent Lattimore had out of HS and what it looks like Green has, how much do these kinds of players really need a lot of coaching honestly? it's not like he took a middle of the road player and made him a superstar.

as for skipper, talk of a visit has been floating around for a month or better. i'll dig up some stuff from UM side and head on over there to get them riled up too :)

Kenneth Miles ran all over Tennessee in 2011. When Lattimore went down this guy came in and the offense never skipped a beat. And he turned Tennessee’s anemic running game from 2011 into a statistical strength of the offense in 2012. There’s no doubt you gotta have players to be really good, but CJG is very good at maximizing abilities.

Let us not forget that, as one of the top ten running backs of all time in Tennessee history, Jay Graham will instantaneously have the respect of his players.

fair enough, did not know that. now take this for what you will because really it means absolutely nothing but UM RB coach did take a middling 3* player and turn him into the all time leading rusher at michigan. that player has already been to the league and didn't make it and is coaching now but eh interesting tidbit maybe. seriously though Fred Jackson, UM RB coach generally had sucessful backs but has not had a stand out star in years

that's always a good thing to have on your resume when it comes to recruits. Fred Jackson has put just about every starter he's ever had into the league, but they never did much beyond that, kind of like michigan QBs

FWIW, here are my two cents on where things stand with Green right now. I think AU chances have significantly decreased. If the family was planning on driving down to Auburn for every/most home games to watch Derrick play, they would not have any issues driving down to meet the new coaching staff.

I believe Green wants to play in the SEC, which leads me to believe that he very well could pick UT over Michigan, in addition to his good relationship with Graham. AU had been one of his favorites all season long. Problem is, he just doesn't really know us anymore with Chizik and Luper gone and the short amount of time until he selects a school.
