'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Bottom line.... We need a new bad a$$ running back to kickstart the Big Orange Uprising! Green is the man for the job. Sounds like we have a good D coming together so we just need some studs in orange on offense to add some punch!
Bring it Green! The volnation is waiting for you!

Is anybody looking at how we are recruiting our running backs right now. If you look at it, it makes me feel like our staff knows we have a GREAT shot at getting Green. IF we miss on him, who do we end with? Jonathan Ford?? Come on, Graham not only wants two backs in this class but he would not hinge all his efforts on ending with just a Jonathan Ford or some 3 star guy. I feel really good about us getting Green on saturday.

This is just hoping and wishing on your part. The Big 10 is very weak, Hoke has one major competitor and thats tOSU. They are always going to be bigger than Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, MSU..etc etc...

Right now Tennessee is a struggling program in by far the best conference in America. We play Bama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida every year...all of those programs have had 10+ wins in the last year...we've won 10 games combined in the last 2 years. We're coming off of a season where we got killed by Vandy....FREAKING VANDY!!!!! Lost to Kentucky the previous year and have been making opposing QB's and RB's look Heisman like (other than Mike Glennon).

Do I think Jones tunrs this around??? YES!! He seems like a players coach and the staff seems relentless in recruiting but this isn't going to happen overnight. We as Vol fans need to realize this rebuilding job may take 3-5 years, we can't keep thinking all these coaches will be the next Saban and turn us around in 12 months.

Yes, but despite all this, he apparently almost committed to CDD and was an EE. The only difference between Mich and UT was the coaching change. That discontinuity seemed to tip him toward UM. Let's both hope that Jay can still get him to be a Vol, despite a change in coaching staffs.

up until a few hours i'd not heard he was an EE with dooley, anything to back that up?

I'm staying positive on DG. He's a need. Like Neal and Lane but they're not DG. He's an impact type 'back (a la Lattimore to SC's offense) and I believe CJG has been clear on this w/ Green.

Are you suggesting an Ole Mi$$ type transaction?

its done guys, i tweeted the pic.

on a side note am i the only one who feels very awkward saying they tweeted anything? sounds so dirty

That's perfectly normal, but if you were Googling yourself, I might judge.

I think it will be hard for Green to step right in and be the starter game 1. I think Lane will be ready to show out come spring and I think he is named the starter. There will be carries to go around though.

I won't even try to dig for the link, most have seen it, but Green did say he loved Hoke and had a pretty good history with him and another big consideration is the super solid class UM is putting together. It's biggest weakness is RB and WR. I just feel as much as we want and need Green, it's not happening. I'd be more surprised if we get him than I was with BB.

"The word going around is that Derrick Green spent 3 hours with Tennessee coaches and alot less time with the Michigan coaches yesterday. I think you may be able to watch his decision live on timesdispatch.com Saturday at 4pm."

I could see this. Part of me wonders if we've seen Lane's full potential. I recall folks saying even this year he wasn't fully trusting his knee until the end of the season. Maybe he will be a late bloomer.
