Lambert's situation is completely different. Bryant hasn't seen many schools because of fear over his grades. Lambert visited and looked at other schools prior to his commitment.
His ability to get in still isn't 100% confirmed at this point, and he needs to make sure he has a back-up plan. What is wrong with that? It's his future. A fan's perspective is obviously much different.
Tennessee is only 1 of 7 Universities that does NOT allow special admissions for students who do not meet minimum academic criteria. IircLOL
Miiami is harder to get into that UT for athletes as far as test scores go (maybe some other requirements too, like foreign language). Tennessee and other SEC schools have some sort of online class restriction (can't remember what), that Miami doesn't always have. That's why Beau Sandland dropped SEC schools from his choices last year.

Have you been? I've been to the beach in south FL in late December.(not South Beach in particular, but a beach) There was plenty to see IMO.
I think they listed Air Force, UVA, Texas, UConn
That's all I can remember
Thanks. Most of those make sense from the school reputation perspective.
Texas and Tennessee don't fit with the others IMO.
Did it say how long Tennessee has been following this policy? Would be really interesting to compare this policy's lifespan at UT to our current slump.
I would be careful making what seem like assumptions concerning academics at The University of Texas - Austin. It is a top institution, one of the best Public options in the country.
I love, and am proud of, my alma mater. But The University of Tennessee - Knoxville is not in the same academic company as Texas.
Overall School Ranking (US News)
Texas - #52
Tenn - #101
Business School Ranking (US News)
Texas - #17
Tenn - #67
Still, to be listed with institutions such as:
The University of Virginia
The University of Texas
The University of Connecticut
The Air Force Academy
It's nice to see. Not sure what it's doing to help the football team though.
Texas was one of seven schools that reported no use of special admissions, instead describing "holistic" standards that consider each applicant individually rather than relying on minimum test scores and grade-point averages.
But the school also acknowledged in its NCAA report that athletic recruits overall are less prepared. At Texas, the average SAT score for a freshman football player from 2003 to 2005 was 945 -- or 320 points lower than the typical first-year student's score on the entrance exam.
School officials did not make coach Mack Brown or athletic director DeLoss Dodds available to comment.
Cool your jets. I never compared Tennessee to Texas academically. I don't care about the other UT to be honest.
Also from the article found this tidbit interesting:
