A lot kids like their uniforms and colors.. Nike puts out some really cool stuff for them, and they have good looking alternative uni's that are different. they also get a ton of publicity on Espn for some reason.. They play an easy schedule, so I guess if u want to play cupcakes, u go there instead of the SEC.
I'd say the biggest thing now is that they have a proven winner as head coach at his dream school.. He can negative recruit the SEC, because he's coached against us for years.
Top 3 in most draft picks all-time, top 5 in 1st round draft-picks all time, top 3 in most draft picks over the last 20 years, top 5 in most 1st round draft-picks over the last 20 years, top 3 in NFL HOFers. 7 National titles (more than anyone in the SEC outside of Bama). Coach with 2 National Titles. I won't argue about color schemes or weather, as those are pretty subjective. I'd just say, surely as Tennessee fans you realize that Tennessee's uniforms are pretty divisive to people who aren't Tennessee fans by birth (a lot of people making silly "creamsicle orange" comments). Not everyone is going to love every uniform, but OSU's are one of the least divisive I've seen being that they're relatively traditional (with minor changes over the last 60 years). Again, weather is a personal preference thing, but as someone whose lived in the deep south, out west, and the Midwest, I prefer central/southern Ohio's weather (seeing as we get 3 bad months a year, usually December-February, and around 50s for most of the year and at least partially sunny) to the weather in the deep south (don't consider Tennessee the deep south) where it's hot/humid for about 2/3rds of the year. California and North Carolina I see as the two ideal weather-zones. If weather or uniforms were that big of a factor to most recruits, Oregon, USC and North Carolina would collectively own every National title in history -- thankfully they don't, which is why Bama dominates the rest.I'm with you. I just do not get the appeal of Ohio State for kids not from Ohio. Teams always strike me as slow and methodical, Ohio is kinda nasty with bad weather, uniforms are hideous (most kids seem to think how cool unis are is important), play in a bad conference, routinely get their asses handed to them in bowl games (when they're actually eligible).
I can see the appeal of other schools so I'm not saying UT is the only school worth going to.... just don't see the appeal of OSU. Somebody help me...what am I missing?
It has always amazed me how kids in the South, especially FL, like/choose OSU or say its their dream school. Ohio is one of the most hideous states I've seen, I'm sure the campus is subpar, the weather starts turning miserable halfway through the season and the last time they won a NC these kids were 6. I just don't see the appeal myself.

I'm not trying to troll or be an antagonist, I very rarely make this kind of post if you look at my very small post history here. I just think you're selling OSU a bit short. OSU gets recruits because they're a top 5 team in NCAA history when it comes to wins (even over the last 10-20 years), they ritually produce draftable talent, and they're part of a highly-populated, solid academic university.

Haha! I felt really bad making the last post because I realize no one cares about my opinion on it anyway. I'm a guest here only, and I do expect to get banned at any point when I step out of line, I just had to speak up for my undergrad uni.Duke I told you don't make me change my mind about you being OSU fan!! Lol

I cant believe the garbage being spewed in this thread. I told myself I wouldn't get hooked, but this post got me.
You know that OSU is tied with USC for the most BCS bowl wins right?

OSU has 9 Hall of Famers (7 HOF players, 2 coaches). Only USC and ND have more. How else do you define NFL greatness? My point isn't that OSU is the greatest university in the world, my point is simply that it's silly to say that there's NOTHING about it to like. It's one of the 10 best college football programs in the country (I'd include Tennessee in that as well based on a rich history and a likely return to glory over the next few years). They may produce draftable talent but they rarely produce superstar talent. Other than Pace and George, there haven't been many true superstars to come out of Ohio State. The ones that have are never in the talks of being the GOATS of their position.
