The Larry Austin commitment must have pushed him away or he was trolling for followers from Vol Nation.

Mitchell cut his list to 8 and we weren't on it. Probably because of the Austin commit.

Damnit SJA :p

Pretty clear what went down, and also makes the rest of this class easier to predict. They were only taking one more guard, Austin pulled the trigger, no room for Mitchell.

The staff will likely look to take 2 forwards/posts out of this group....also makes me think we probably are just going with 5 this class unless we need to make room for Looney/Black.

Black, Looney, Hurt, Turman and London

My best guess is we land London and Hurt, and make room for one of Looney and Black if they decide to join.

Basically exactly what I'm thinking as well, and I'd be very happy with those 5. Would likely be a top 15 class, can't ask for much more than that.

2 top 100 guys
2 top 150 guys
4* JUCO

Ah ok, well welcome :)

Yea fox seems to be on the hot seat, I really thought he'd do better there.

Thanks. Yeah Fox is not a very good recruiter and they do not have 1 top 100 player on their roster this year in a state filled with talent.

Very excited to see how Trae Golden looks for Gregory and the Yellow Jackets.

Didn't make his list of 8?
Would have made a great SG alongside Austin.
Oh well. Get some Bigs.

Hubbs Thompson and Cornish will be here. We'll be fine

It's pretty clear this was the staff's choice....he had scheduled an OV for October 19th already with Jordan Cornish. Austin commits and all of a sudden we weren't in his top 8, when we were presumably in his top 5 a week earlier. The staff was taking one more guard, and Austin jumped at the opportunity.

And to be honest I'd rather have Austin because of his style of play and he's a POINT GUARD. He won't be a project we know what we have. He's a change of pace guard that can run the team. I love Mitchell's game if there was a spot for him I wouldn't mind having him, but I think the staff is realizing that combo guards aren't the best way to go. Pass first speedy guards that can defend is what we needed.

I love the addition and the more I watch film on Austin the happier I am. I definitely agree with you about preferring Austin, ESPECIALLY since we are apparently only taking one guard. If we could've taken Micthell and McCormick ok, but next years team needs a PG, and Austin is that guy.

Agreed. I think we are good on our front court going forward. Austin/Thompson Hubbs/Cornish I'm happy.

Weren't you saying about a month ago that Martin didn't need a true PG to run this team, and that he was looking for more of a combo guard?

Someone had said that CCM said that when he got to UT (I didn't see it myself). But I think most of us on here agree that we have needed a true PG. That is why we are all excited about Barton.

I don't remember saying it was how I felt, I thought I was saying that's what Martin had said....but maybe I'm mistaken.
