'14 GA RB Treyvon Paulk (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Letting Paulk back on the team could hurt ticket sales. Statistics show women have a lot of influence over major financial decisions in a household. Season tickets to Tennessee football are a major financial commitment. Women won't want to see thier family money spent on Tennessee tickets if they think the coach turns a blind eye to woman beating.

The casual UT fan doesn't remember Paulk and won't remember what he did. I know we on Volnation are super fans but the average fan doesn't follow recruiting and player dismissals like we do. I highly doubt that even 1 ticket isn't sold because of this issue.

Imo telling the kid he needs to play his college ball elsewhere is FAR, FAR from the death penalty.

Normally don't agree with the Leb, but in this case, agree 100%. Not guilty, guilty, half guilty, half not guilty, IMO, it's best for Mr Paulk to take his services elsewhere and try not to get in the same situation.

I have a bit different perspective. Bobby Bowden was frequently criticized because he would give kids a second and even a third chance for bad decisions. He would insist that kids have counselling and mentoring to address issues like domestic violence before even considering to allow them to return. While punishment is required, fixing a kid's problem is the number one priority. In most cases, domestic violence is a learned behavior. They need to be taught that there is a better way.

There is a reason FSU has always been viewed as a dirty program who allows their players to get away with anything. Jimbo has continued on that path.

You are allowed your opinion. There will always be people who consider other programs as dirty. I'm sure there are a lot of SEC fans who think the Vols are dirty.

To a point, UT is. I get that. The difference at least that's glaring to me, AJ was yanked, and Winston was still tossing TDs. I prefer UT deal quick and decisively when bad things come up. FSU? Just hope the season is over before they get caught. Have em run steps in the spring.

Though a medical examination of the victim revealed bruised knees and semen on the woman's body – and the victim would identify Winston by name as her attacker a month later, Tallahassee police reportedly never obtained a DNA sample from Winston, never interviewed him, nor attempted to obtain video of the encounter taken by Seminoles teammate Chris Casher. The investigation was conducted by Officer Scott Angulo, who, the Times ' article notes, did private security work for the Seminole Boosters, the primary financier of Florida State athletics.[30]

Umm, yeah. That's dirty. On the other hand - AJ was immediately suspended, he gave DNA, had his apartment searched, co-operated with the PD - but yet was still suspended. You can defend your Semenholes all you want, but in comparison, takes a lot of gall to call UT dirty. GTFO.

FWIW, university judicial offices don't operate on the "innocent until proven guilty" standard, they operate on the "preponderance of evidence" standard. Basically, this just means they have to think it's more likely than not that you did whatever they're accusing you of.

Is it fair? Nope. Is it constitutional? I can't imagine how. But it's what they do.

I seriously doubt 1000 women in tn have any clue who Paulk is. I think we will be OK.

"Letting" Paulk play for another team is cutting off your nose to spite your face. What kind of punishment is that? You may as well get his playing time instead of giving it to someone else. Either make him sit another year before playing for another team or keep him.

The punishment is not being allowed to don the O&W.

I am not and never will be Seminole fan. And I wasn't discussing the current situation at FSU. I was referring back to Coach Bowden and how he handled problem players. And I never have ever said that UT was dirty. "KooachKletus" you know what you can do with your ignorant comment.

Permit me to rephrase - "It takes a lot of gall to "allude" that UT is dirty when comparing J.Winston vs A.Johnson in rape allegations." The semenholes have hid and dodged the allegations for over a year - has UT done the same? No. So why even allude that UT is as dirty as some other schools? I don't give a **** what other SEC fan's say. Why even insinuate that they think we are dirty when UT's actions have went above and beyond anything that free shoes has done?????

Think FSU cares about what people think? They were laughin all the way to the bank with a heisman winner and national championship last year. Same for us, if we win idc who's on the team. Give me Ray Lewis, Ray Rice, Jameis Winston, TO, Randy Moss, and Treyvon Paulk. Class is overrated.

It's sad you feel that way. I'd be willing to bet you didn't attend UT. It's nothing more than a football team to you. The student athletes are not people to you. I see it as something that is so much more. I like feeling good about Tennessee the university as a whole. It goes beyond the scoreboard in Neyland stadium tor me. It always will. Jmo

I never drew any comparison between the Winston and AJ situations. Bobby Bowden was the FSU coach 10 years ago. You need to read what I said. Paulk's situation is domestic abuse not rape. Don't mix apples and oranges. With counseling, especially anger management, people can be fixed with these problems. I think that Paulk didn't do what he needed to do to earn his place back in the program. Young guys need to learn to respect other people especially women.

I'm a student now actually. They're a student when they're on campus. But on the football field none of that means squat. The majority of athletes couldn't care less about the academics anyways. The academic part of the school doesn't make the top 10.

I wear orange tennessee clothes to the games. Not button downs and bow ties. Because this is Tennessee football, we drink beer, not wine coolers.

She was hit. Police took pictures of the injuries she sustained. I guess she could've beat herself in the face or I know maybe she fell down some steps. You know those silly drunken girls always hurting themselves. He was probably trying to assist her back to her feet after she fell on the floor and busted her mouth, right?

UT Vols freshman Treyvon Paulk dropped after police say he punched ex-girlfriend | Local News | Times Free Press

Let's keep rationalizing and get a good football team with no morals. And your last statement is laughable. Provoked? Did she have a knife or weapon or anything that threatened his person? I guess anytime my wife drops a smartass comment I have free reign to punch her in the face because I was provoked? Some need to seriously take a look in the mirror and consider what they're willing to let go to get a good football team, this is damn sickening to me.

I didn't say she wasn't hit. She said she was hit and there was visuals. But she also said it didn't go down the way it was perceived.

As for your last paragraph get off your damn high horse. I've never hit my wife and don't plan on it either but I'm also not willing to crucify a man who may have done it, whether he can play football or not. Especially when the only details are what's written in a KNS article and regurgitated by Bleacher Report, ESPN etc.
