'14 GA RB Treyvon Paulk (UT Signee 2/5/14)

You will never put any group of 80 plus athletes together without having to work through issues that end up being past history. Trust this coaching staff to pick the ones worth the effort.

There was no trial. There was no courts involved. Its been over 4 months since the incident. What New "info" could have come up to go from dismissed to he didn't do anything?

Imo, that's going to be hard to explain.

Lots of things don't add up. Not just the numbers.

You do realize it may not have anything to do with guilt or innocence, but it's all about walking through the Minefield of Title IX and the college's investigation. Nothing to do with CBJ at this point.

That coupled with last years emphasis of college's mishandling these type cases across the nation and the NFL's issues resulted in a knee jerk reaction by more than one entity on campus regardless of his innocence. It's a catch 22 and the University is not going to get caught on the wrong side of this which means current status quo for the interim.

Claims have been made the kid did nothing wrong. Claims were made that it was all a lie and she must have punched herself. With all the witness statements per several media outlets, that would equate to a conspiracy.

If the kid messed up and allowing him to return upon certain things taking place is one thing.

Claims that he did nothing wrong and EVERYONE was lying, to me at least, makes zero sense with where it all is 4 plus months later.

Bottom Line: It's hard for the government to regulate Rape, Domestic Violence and drama filled incidents on a college campus when teenagers, hormones, and alcohol are possibly involved. A lot of he said she said and then add to it friends, investigators, and counselors.

We have had two incidents this year and nothing has been done to resolve them because in both cases the facts are clouded by emotions, alcohol and faulty investigations. The university will/would not take the risk of being on the wrong side of either case. So the safe thing is to suspend/dismiss the player and let it play out.

More than likely it is sitting in a file of the Title IX Compliance Department buried in a stack of paperwork with a few hoping this will go away.

CBJ's has probably inquired about it and asked for their ruling and now they are scrambling, thinking it would just go away and not anticipating that CBJ would pursue the case like he has by asking for reinstatement of Paulk.

Oh dear lord this thread again.

1. It's not innocent until proven guilty. This is a football program not a court of law. The standards for dismissal from the team and standards for putting someone in prison are different. The integrity of the program has to come before one individual on the team.

2. There were several witnesses including teammates of Paulk and other student/athletes. It's not a he said/she said deal it's a fact the kid punched her in the face and had to be physically pulled off of her. No dark room, drunkenness, or misinterpretation of what happened there from those who witnessed it.

3. The second chances argument is just a second chance for our program to be destroyed by the media. You give this kid a second chance here and what happens if he physically abuses a girl again? Hell what happens if he kills a girl next after you've seen that he has been physically violent in the past.

4. I know the next argument will be "you don't know anything'. Okay think about this logically even if you do not believe one word of the above. Lane and Johnson were both suspended from the program whereas Paulk was dismissed. What does that tell you? Butch absolutely knew more facts behind the incident. It's not in his best interest to dismiss Paulk unless he absolutely knew the facts of the incident and they were particularly damning. The police report indicated signs of physical abuse plus the statements of those that witnessed the incident damned Paulk.

5. Be careful what you wish for. I find it absolutely impossible to consider that Jones would allow Paulk back. Part of that has to do with my opinion of Jones as a person. If Paulk is allowed back it would lessen Jones as a person in my eyes. We talk about what a scum bag that Jimbo Fisher is for how he handles his players; there is no way you can ever take the high ground if Jones allows Paulk back on the team.

All points that make sense to me.

If everyone else lied, was drunk, and fabricated it all, are the Lady VOLS players and Mr. Berry up for suspension and or dismissal? I'm gonna guess no. Jmo

Not to say this would negate what witnesses say Paulk did, but what if she provoked him.
That "could" mitigate what he did that was witnessed. Not excuse it.
We dont know what has gone on behind the scene on this one.
If Butch reinstates him, he will have his reasons, and they will allow him to stay on solid or high ground. I dont see him risking his reputation on this.

Do you know for a fact that Elliott Berry was there and it went down as said? Cause he was only identified as being there by Paulk's GF in every article I've seen. The same girl who told police she was hit by Paulk but then explained that she wasn't hit like one might think.

Big difference between Jimbo doing nothing to Jameis and Butch suspending/dismissing Paulk for an entire season. The fact that you see the possible scenarios as the same is ludacris. One was punished the other wasn't. One was taken to court the other was never charged. One might have lost his cool when being provoked, likely still inexcusable, one might have asserted his will on an individual unprovoked.

She was hit. Police took pictures of the injuries she sustained. I guess she could've beat herself in the face or I know maybe she fell down some steps. You know those silly drunken girls always hurting themselves. He was probably trying to assist her back to her feet after she fell on the floor and busted her mouth, right?

During the argument, Paulk "became very agitated and struck her in the mouth with his fist," according to the report. The blow left Reese with cuts on her lips, but she refused medical treatment. Reese met with a detective from the sheriff's Family Crisis Unit on Sunday, and the office's forensic unit took pictures of her injuries.

Let's keep rationalizing and get a good football team with no morals. And your last statement is laughable. Provoked? Did she have a knife or weapon or anything that threatened his person? I guess anytime my wife drops a smartass comment I have free reign to punch her in the face because I was provoked? Some need to seriously take a look in the mirror and consider what they're willing to let go to get a good football team, this is damn sickening to me.

For some, it's win. Just win at all costs. If they are winning, who cares what kind of human beings they are.

IMO, we have gotten to the point that whatever the truth is, it doesn't really matter because of Title IX issues. Paulk will either be a victim of circumstances and the system or vindicated by someone willing to take on the system.

Terrible timing. Might be at the point of buying each athlete a Go Pro and attaching it to their heads when they go out with feeds to the AD.
