depends on what teams are at the 7 on 7.. they have plenty of recruits who uga isn't recruiting (or the vols for instance), but then there are some who are targets such as CM. cortez said he would stay and spend time with the coaches on the 7 on 7 trip and then come back out later in june. based on what you guys are saying he is all tennessee, but it doesn't hurt to take a shot at him even if he ends up elsewhere.
U got some insider ish to spill?
Lets just say me and my father are both friends with a booster by the name of R. Fannon and he is around the program alot. He was told this kid is a Vol and has been working alot of other Ga kids ala Dj Smith. I do not care to reveal the last name of my source because I dont want to spread junk around these forums and get a bad name. I like all of you guys and want to see the Vols rise to the top where they belong. He has also told me and my dad that he has spoken to a member of the coaching staff as well and Mr Fannon was told we have 8 "slients". When he asked who they were the coach just smiled and said you will see and be as happy as I am. I will bring more info when I hear it.
I do believe in silents, the players may commit to the coach to keep there spot, but keep quite publicly so they can have there moment to announce, whether it's the opening, or assemblies, or All star games.
I agree if we do have 8 silents I believe they are... Berry twins(2), C.Mcdowell, Bates, Hendrix, gaulden, truit, mouhon.
I don't buy into the whole "silent" commitment. If a kid is not willing to tell the world he is a VOL, I have no reason to consider him one. There is no 1/2 Orange to me. JMO
some kids are low key and dont want all the publicity and or the pressure from their surrounding community and peers if they are from another state. another situation to consider.
say you are a big time recruit and because of that you are generating a lot of interest for your program from colleges, so now some guys on your team that may have never gotten much attention are suddenly being seen as well. this helps your buddies. if you commit early, those guys dont get as much of a look.
as long as they sign the loi in feb then i dont care if they stay silent the whole time. only reason for us to not like it is that we are selfish and want the great feeling of knowing they are ours as soon as possible.
Sooner a kid commits the more it helps solidify a top class. We are seeing that this year more than any other in years past. Waiting till NSD is becoming less and less the thing to do and kids are committing a lot sooner. I agree as long as they sign with the Vols I am happy. If they do it sooner, it may help land a better class as that is 1 more recruiter we have on the job.
