'14 GA S Cortez McDowell (UT Signee 2/5/14)

That's what I would think, TK has better ball skills and CM is a better hitter.

I thought the exact opposite lol. TK is stout, seems like a run stopper. CM seems like a quicker, smaller, taller kid who could play coverage better. I'm the farthest possible thing from a talent evaluator though.

CM's entire highlight reel is him laying wood. TK's is more of him in coverage and playing as an ATH. Cortez could become an LB too, he said it himself on TSR.

I didn't see any laying wood on RBs in CM's film. I only skimmed it though. Everything hit I saw was hitting the receiver after the catch.

I would still let TK play FS because he has insane ball skills. CM just looks more like a hitter to me.

It's a good problem to have, where to put the elite safeties. Safety looks to be one of our best positions for the next few years. Got 4 now, 2 proven, 2 EE with potential, and two more coming in.

TK is much better in coverage at this point. He's also has better ball skills and range. I think of TK as a Michael Griffin type of player. Meaning--yes he has the size to play SS but his skill set makes him a better fit at FS. McDowell is also more physical than he is IMO.

This to an extent. TKjr is a vicious hitter as well. His technical skills(reads, technique, lack of false steps, Football IQ, and tackling technique) make him a better player at the FS than Cortez. But they'll still have to beat out a Senior Randolph, Junior McNeil, second year JRM and Lemond Johnson. So it'll be fun to say the least. Championship level competition at safety. Now time for the other positions especially CB. :)

I've heard Randolph got a hardship waiver (medical redshirt) for last year and will be a redshirt sophomore this year. So looks like three more years of him and McNeil.

I don't know. TK looked to be the bigger hitter IMO. He murders people in his video. IMO Kelly would make a better FS or SS, just the all around better player. Not a knock on CM, dude more than likely has NFL in his future. TK2 and CM....how can you not be fired up. Both can make plays on the ball, both are gonna help against the run.

No, you think about it. It had nothing to do with Auburn or if kids get in trouble. I think he just wanted to take a shot at UGA and that's the subject he chose to use. The UGA fans are giving him hell and he fired a shot. And you know what.....I like it!

Really? You can figure all that out. You are good.

I'm sure it was about taking a shot, seems obvious, but it was not a real smart one. I don't think Dawg fans were giving him a hard time before his interview, but I could be wrong, I don't do the whole twitter thing.

Cortez had his head behind on almost every tackle I saw and they were almost all arm tackles. I didnt see a lot of skull rattling hits.

It looked like he had loose hips, was bigger, faster, and stronger than his competition, came up in support well, and got off blocks.

I saw very few passes defended on his film but a lot of the teams he was playing seemed to be running the Wing and his defense seemed to basically make him a mistake eraser rather than putting him in a position to play the ball. So maybe that's why.

TK on the other hand didnt look like the biggest, fastest, strongest kid on the field (but had plenty of each) but he made some solid plays on the ball and lit people up.

I like them both for different reasons but wouldn't be surprised to see McDowell get moved down to LB, although he could very well learn the S position. I think either he or JRM are going to be LBs eventually.

You still upset about this? Cause I'm like...waaaay past it.

Yes, Randolph was given a RS w/ 3 yrs to play.

RE: Cortez & TK, both are hard-hitting safeties. CM is better in coverage TK,jr in run support, IMO

CM had 60 tackles, 10 PD's, 2 INT's during his JR yr.
