'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

Favorite and best are mutually exclusive.

Although I agree, I'm not sure how anyone who can remember the '98 season couldn't name Al as their favorite.

I know he was a hybrid, but there were few more exciting to watch than big #1 Leonard Little in 1997. That dude was electric.

Who is darrin miller?

One had mutha ***** from the 85 team, LB. the fans for whatever reason loved Dale Jones, still do to this day. But I felt Miller was actually better, JMO. I also feel he's one of the more under rated under appreciated Vols I can remember. YouTube the 85' Tenn/Auburn game. Dude shows out from the jump.

Funny story, I tutored this gorgeous girl in chemistry...she was fighting with her boyfriend a lot...convinced her I was a better option. After we were dating, found out her previous boyfriend was Darrin Miller. Looked over my shoulder frequently after that. :)

As long as it took him to return that fumble against Iowa, you probably could have outrun him anyway.

This is what we need again for sure. His speed on the edge was incredible. Dude was a flat out beast. Was hoping Jacques Smith could have developed into this type of player.

Little had the ability to change a game single handedly. Very explosive pass rusher off of the edge. I think Al's strength was his consistency. He consistently played as hard as he could every down from the opening kickoff to the end of the game. Al Wilson is the guy they describe when the old cliche 'Leaving it all on the field'. Both guys were different but effective in their own way.

Yep and Al was a real leader on and off the field. When you have someone with that work ethic leading the team, it really goes a long way.

Now if Al was white we would all say "his motor doesn't stop". :birgits_giggle:

Sorry, I had to.

good to see another vol fan from melbourne!!!

Hey. Actually in Suntree. Moving to Huntsville , AL in about a month though. Done repping the Big Orange flag in gator land (thank God for basketball success against them cuz football has been rough. Lost a few bets), figured I'll fly it high in Bammer territory as we climb our way back to the top.

Just moved from Huntsville. There's a good conglomeration of Auburn Alabama and UT fans there. But we are definitely in the minority.

Luckily Huntsville is rather educated for Alabama so you won't have to deal with most of the life forms you hear about in other parts of the state.

unfortunately i don't think you can develop those types of guys, they are simply born freak athletes. but agree that we do need impact players on D like we used to.

i'll take -

1 John Henderson
1 Leonard Little

1 Al Wilson
1 Raynoch Thompson

1 Dale Carter
1 Deon Grant

we can fill in the rest from there

That would be an excellent start. I miss those days. We had speed at every position.

still love watching the replay of the '97 title game vs Auburn (not all the turnovers) and seeing the speed and ferocity with which we swarmed all over the field

You lose cred with that one....but maybe if you're a Vol spawn post 90, you have mall shopping and skateboarding tricks to practice...takes away from researching Vol notables from the past...keep practicing the Macarena

Not sure if this helps or hinders their recruiting chances only giving attention to Garrett...

Interesting Tweet

"Disappointed with our Florida visit yesterday. 18 hour trip and the head coach only showed love to one of our guys. Won't be back again"

Doesn't hurt us
Gators just got dumped by a whole school

Could also be some agitation over getting beat 52-7 in their first game, but I agree. Coaches usually have a pretty big say in recruiting, and that coach doesn't sound happy
