"I like Tennessee a lot. LSU is my leader right now, but Tennessee is right behind them. I talk to coach (Steve) Stripling and a lot, and the defensive coordinator, coach Jancek, we stay in touch too," Garrett said. "I'm going to try to get down there in July for a visit but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. I'm definitely going to come down for an official visit in the fall.

"I really like the staff there, they seem like a good group of guys and they definitely sound like they know what they're doing."

"The SEC is the premiere conference, in my opinion, everybody knows that the last seven national champions were from the SEC. It's top-notch football down there; great coaches, great players and great atmosphere on game day. I think if you're serious about wanting to compete against the best, you're going to look at playing in the SEC," Garrett said.

"It doesn't take anything at all away from things as far as I'm concerned. It's still going to be real competitive," Garrett said. "I've been spending a lot of time working on my footwork and my coverage skills this summer. That's one of the aspects of my game I've really been trying to improve, it's going to be good to test that out against some of these guys this weekend. I know I'm a big body guy, but I want to show people that I can play in space."

Uh No. LSU needs him way more than you guys needs him. We have no depth at the LB's position.

Couldn't help but notice how well UT is recruiting right now. Can't wait for the Vols to be a national player again.

we have 0 depth. we are losing 6 LBs after this season. we need him more

We will trade him for Chavis and a player to be named later..

Tennessee has signed 5 LBs in the last 3 classes. lsu has signed 12 over the same classes.

The jury is still out how good those guys really are. We fee pretty good about the OLB. The MLB is of concerned and this is why we could really use clifton Garrett.

Your LB recruiting sounds like our QB recruiting or at least how some on here would like it to be. We may start taking 3-4 QBs every class because you don't know what you have with the last 3-4. We are going to start taking QBs and converting them to OT and TE's as needed.

Not sure why some feel we don't have a chance with this guy, LOL. A firm 2nd and he's yet to see campus. And it sounds as if it's a top priority for him to get down here. I actually think we're a major player here.

Not to mention proximity to home is in our favor as well.

I hope we are. We sure could use some LBs who could step in and play early. We need to keep in mind though a lot of these kids want to do the whole hat on the table announcement thing. If they don't take visits and they don't talk up other programs, it kind of gives it away where they are going. I have never seen a kid sit down to make his choice on ESPN and there was only 1 hat on the table.

He stated that he was going to take an official to UT. So I'm guessing he's gonna take other officials as well, perhaps won't commit to anyone for some time.

I'm aware some of these kids like to play the game too, I see where you are coming from. That's fine too as long as they put on the orange hat at the end of the day. Be awesome to bag this dude.

That is exactly why we recruited so many LB. We just can't seem to get a dominant player. Minter was awesome and hopefully Lamin Barrow can fill the void now that Minter is gone. After Barrow it's going to be touch and go.
