'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

LOL. If that's the case yesterday was nothing more than a dog and pony show.

I know. I wonder if Auburn will even take him if he is no longer an EE. That is a huge deal especially with a JUCO player and it's not like Auburn is in desperate straights on the Dline like Tennessee is.

I wonder if butch knew his grades were bad and wouldn't make it in early. Butch still said 14 EEs will join team this morning. Same number he has always said.

Could be. Plus if this is true, this could be one of those things that goes well into the summer and you still dont know if the kid is going to make the grades or not. Obviously he's a poor student if he failed to qualify out of HS and now cant get out of JUCO early when everything is set up at his JC for kids to do so.

This guy obviously has some serious issues in the classroom (assuming that he actually does even go)...My guess is that he will be a one and done at Auburn in 2014 - which is still a nice get for them but not as big a deal as we first thought.

If he would have been accepted into UT now but not AU, that's a little embarrassing.
But, if that's the case, and if AU ends up not taking him for the reasons you gave, then all they would have accomplished is causing us to lose someone.
If he would not have gotten into either school now, then yeah, we didn't miss out on much.

Maybe he signed with AU because we backed off of him due to grades and he didnt want to
embarrass himself at his signing ceremony.

Just a thought

I don't think that's the case. Hubbs said that our staff didn't know he flipped to Auburn until about 30-60 minutes before his 3pm announcement. They were lied to up until the end.

Maybe I missed it, but has the staff publicity commented about Lambert?

I would think that since he already signed his LOI, CBJ and staff would speak specifically about the Lambert situation?

This would clarify the circumstances regarding this situation.

Butch isn't going to comment on a kid who signed with another school. Plus, if this is true about his grades and not qualifying the document he signed is void and even Auburn coaches can't talk about him.

I would be shocked if this is actually true. Why would Auburn take a LOI from him yesterday if he wasnt academically eligible?
