'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

Or maybe the article was already written by the time Lambert flipped late in the day and they didn't edit or type up a new article just to add Lamberts name....

Per Kipp Adams: "Lambert says he is enrolling in January."

More from DaVonte Lambert himself: "I didn't fail a class. I'm still working on a correspondence class, that's all."

I was mad as hell at Lambert (although didn't tweet him) for flipping the last minute. Always wondered why he was committed to UT but was announcing at 3 yesterday. Didn't make sense then, but is coming clearer now. It's possible the back story is he tried to sign with UT, found out we couldn't take him and he thought he might be able to sign with Auburn. We know the Jimmy Cheek rule makes it more difficult for JUCOs to get into UT. But in the end, he couldn't sign with Auburn either. That is just my theory on it.

I was mad at him yesterday, but today am just disgusted that the kid didn't go to class and probably thought he could play football without even trying to make his grades. You don't have to be a genius to pass JUCO classes but effort is necessary. I believe we dodged a bullet here and glad we have a spot for somebody else on our roster.

Honestly, I hope he makes it. I don't want to wish ill will on him. He played that whole situation wrong, but that doesn't mean he's a bad guy. I hope he makes it and I hope he never beats TN, that's all.

We may be underestimating Lambert. If he flipped to Auburn to get a check, knowing that he wouldn't likely make it in due to grades, props.

Sounds like Redemption is ours! Freaking awesome. Too bad Davonte didn't go to "The Derek Zoolander Institute For Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good To." It probably would have helped him out.

Vindication would probably be a better choice of words if you are the vengeful sort (LIKE ME!).... I think it does show how JUCO transfers are generally unreliable. There is a reason they didn't get into a 4 year college in the first place and as much as I loved Cordarelle Patterson as a player (maybe our best JUCO since Dale Carter), from everything I have heard he had no business being a college student for even the one semester he was enrolled.

As long as he ends up 2-0 against Bammer i'll be happy

Not sure why anyone would doubt the word of this fine upstanding young man.

There were real concerns about Lambert the last few weeks concerning his academic situation. He had to graduate from GMC to be eligible this spring and I don't know for certain whether or not he graduated as he just finished up school in the last few days.

If he did not graduate he would just have to graduate before the summer to get in to a school and he would be eligible for the fall.

If he didn't graduate his NLI would be void. I'm not sure if Tennessee would want him. I would assume he would because I still he think he could help them, but I don't know for sure.
