'14 Juco DT Jarran Reed

We need some true 300-315 lb DT's for when we play old school smash mouth teams

He's picked a few other schools before. He's been right 14/17 times, not terrible.

Jayson Swain's Crystal Ball Predictions

Hopefully he has real info on Reed and isn't just guessing. We need Reed.

He’s a homer...but he’s our homer. And he usually has some really good intel on where the kid is going. Cory Thomas was all but signed to MSU when Swain made that pick. And he knew the one place Alex Bars wasn’t going was Tennessee.

"I am not sure yet but I may go see Florida State," said Reed. "But I don't know that for sure. I am graduating in December and I may decide after our (NJCAA) national championship game (on Dec. 8th). Every school I have visited I am considering all of them. I don't have any leaders right now because I am still weighing things out and see where I fit in the best."

-It's worth noting that according to CB, FSU is the hands down favorite for his teammate DJ Pettway.

- Nothing but the usual recruit speak on MSU, doesn't say anything about anyone else either

He has only picked UT for one player incorrectly, and that was Freddy Canteen who committed to Michigan, a team of which he had not received an offer from at the time of Swain's prediction.

Wasn't he also a teammate or friend of one of our commits

Big Dan has definitely underachieved this year. I thought he was going to really make a difference in the middle.

Thats why i am not to keen on playing Mosely at DT. These type of DTs are not good for spread Offenses. They never get to the QB and can not run down a QB or RB side line to side line.

IMO Mosely is a OL.

For the record, Dan McCullers is not and never should have been a DT. I know that's how we chose to get him on the field this year, but he's not. He's a prototypical NT 100% and will perform much better at that position in the future.

I agree. There would have to be a radical physical transformation that would take at least two years for him to be able to contribute at DT in this D scheme IMO.

Doesn't mean they should not take him because he could be successful on the O-line if the transformation did not happen. But would rather see Reed or another proven juco to remove all doubt since they have 4 good O-lineman on board.

Reed attends East Mississippi C.C. I'll believe it when I see it, amigos.

I remain hopeful and would like to see the stranglehold broken - but I agree with you and Jave on this one. Would love to be wrong.
