'14 Juco DT Jarran Reed

Tommy Thigpen was in North Carolina to visit with Jarran Reed's family as the Vols continue to battle there for the junior college defensive lineman and that battle doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.

Look for Jones to see Reed next week leading into the junior college signing period.

Malone and Reed and I would be fine at that point.

I 3rd that! Reed would make a monumental impact and would also be an enormous upgrade to our overall D-line!

Malone also gives us another legit offensive weapon! Our QB's will look a 110% better as well. If not just for the fact these WR's (Malone, North, and Pearson) will get open and will make defenders miss!

Agree with both you and Sanddune. We need both badly. Day One, productive starters IMO. They will make both coordinators look much smarter.

"Finally, as we wrote about in last night's thread, Thigpen visited with Jarran Reed and his family and that visit seems to have gone well. But, the team that a lot of schools are really watching with Reed right now seems to be Alabama as Reed really likes the Crimson Tide and the Tide have turned up their recruiting on the junior college defensive tackle recently."

Eh. Saban will send NCAA president Mark Emmert to seal the deal on this one.

I can hear it now

Emmert :"Ah Mr. Reed I see you are trying to decide between teams and Alabama happens to be among them. I just want you to know we fully support all of Bamas actions and if any wrongdoings do happen there we will cover them up. I would appreciate you continuing the Alabama dynasty as I've already placed a large bet on them having 8 national championships by 2020 under Saban

Not if you are going to answer in a ridiculous manner. I mean, I suppose that you could assume that I am considering Sapp and Goose at their current age, but then we would have to question whether you are mentally disabled. Or, you could use logic and reason and deduce that I am comparing them as they were when they played in college and the NFL. The point being that Dan is not a prototypical NT. You are assuming that because he is big he is better suited for NT, and I am simply challenging this position. Dan is not underperforming because he is playing out of position. He under performed last year and has this year as well. He is big, but he lacks the fire to play in the trenches. He plays upright and is easy for a center or gaurd to get under and freeze at the line.

I'm assuming that since you state that Dan is good at drawing double teams that you have a breakdown of statistics confirming this to be the case? Whether some NFL team will get production out of him is yet to be seen. You have a positive outlook, I think he will quickly be out of the NFL. We'll see.

Woo boy, the butthurt is real. Don't take it personally. Do I think he could be a little more motivated? Sure. But a little cash does that to a player... unless you think Justin Hunter played better last year.

As for your second point, as a matter of fact I do. It's a relatively detailed breakdown of McCullers as a draft prospect from a guy who isn't terrible at doing them. Ignore the host of the article (BR), it's a legitimate breakdown. Also keep in mind that this analysis is of him as a NT.

Breaking Down 2014 NFL Draft Prospect Daniel McCullers | Bleacher Report

He'll be fine.
