'14 JUCO DT Jihad Ward

For some reason I am a sucker for projects like this. Just like the idea of taking athletes and figuring out what to do with them from there. I was a big fan of the Woody Quinn recruitment too for the same reason. I know you can't build an entire football with projects though. I feel like I could easily become Al Davis if you let me run a team.

Are we sure it is pronounced the same? I mean, how long have many of us (including the press) been calling North "Mar-kez" The Q isn't silent.

Regardless how his name is pronounced, this kid looks good. If Butch and the boys think he is a take, I look forward to finding out what they see in him.

What's the deal with an uncomittable offer? By definition an offer is committable under contract law. Its an oxymoron. If I were a recruit and a school "offered" me a scholarship that I could not take, I'd take it as an affront.

You MUST be a lawyer.

His name isn't bad at all, played football with a guy named Jihad. And yes it also depends on how its pronounced.

Every time I see his name I think of a couple of soldiers at Guantanamo one asking the other "where do we put this one?" The other: " Uh, just put him in the Jihad Ward".

I can easily see our fanbase not embracing this kid because of his name! Regardless of what the true meaning of that word is, most Joe Sixpacks that live in the southeast area won't know the difference.

Really? So most of us will dislike him because of his name?
Is this one of those "I hate rednecks.. they like to stereotype people." moments?

With the Lambert commitment, do we still recruit this guy, or do we hold off for a Dwayne Hendrix type of player?

It has been posted that they want 2 JUCO DT as well as some high school kids.

Cool. I am assuming that CBJ and staff will leave a spot open for a talent like Dwayne Hendrix regardless of the numbers. Also, Jerome Dews spot might be up for grabs depending on how the numbers work themselves out.

As much as this kid would be a roll of the dice and a project/risk at DT, I'd take him. 6'7 290-300 and he would be a terror with his speed and quickness. Could also be a real weapon in the orange zone on offense at TE if they wanted to give him some reps there.

I'd gladly take this kid as the other Juco, he simply is athletic and huge. Couple days ago saw a post about JPP type player on the end, the kid's frame and skills could be molded by Strip to be something similar to that. I could see him putting on some muscle weight and playing DT, but either way, I believe this kid is worth the take.

Defensive End IMO. Young man has a speed and quickness about him that would be scary coming off he end. I like your TE idea in the Orange Zone.
