'14 JUCO DT Jihad Ward

Ok... Just watched his HUDL and this is going to sound a little negative but it is actually maybe a positive. His technique coming out of his stance is really not good (comes up too high). Offensive linemen in the SEC will continually get leverage on him if he does not get that corrected. That being said, the kid has unbelievable speed down the line and is quite good with his hands and getting off the block. If I'm not mistaken this kid was a receiver up until last year. I think he would be a beast off the edge on passing downs... well... and up the middle. I can see him giving some excellent pass rushing presence.

Send him to the shute! It should take care of being too high.

As pass rushers? I wouldn't be surprised to see him with his hand on the ground on passing downs.

Unless Jordan Williams shows you he can put it all together then I don't see how they wouldn't be able to have Maggit at end on passing down.

I'd be fine with Maggitt sticking at LB. We have better options at DE IMO.

I know ppl consider him a pass rushing specialist but with his hand in the ground he rarely had an impact on the QB. I'd prefer him covering a TE more than a pass rushing DE. He probably could cause more havoc coming off the edge at LB.

When did this dude make the massive 22 spot jump on 247? Now the #2 JUCO DT in the nation. What did he do?

I think this kid would be a steal. So much upside with his size/speed. Work on his technique a little and he would be a monster on the DL. Something we have been missing of late is a guy to cause some chaos.

He has a lot of upside but with only 2 years to play, wouldn't be able to contribute as much as someone like Reed or Heurtelou. Imo

With Reed committing to Bama, Any chance we push for this guy. I really like his film. seems to be explosive.

I don't think there is room. Would have liked to have seen him in Orange and I think he will be a great player. Look forward to seeing where he ends up and how he does. 6'7 285 running a 4.6 is just insane.

I assume we are taking one more Juco DT. so didnt know if we are still recruiting him. I need to go back and look at Hurts film. I still think Ward could make an impact for us, he is explosive and I think coach strip could really help him.

I don't see the huge need for another Juco DT. IMO Carr with 2 years in the system, O'Brien with multiple years, and the other guys should be more than capable of holding things down. Add O. Williams and Lambert out of Juco this year and we will be fine.

IMO what we need to see more of is our 5th and 6th DT guys getting more reps when games are in hand. That is how you prepare kids for the future. If your up 20 or down 20, we need more kids getting live work on the field.

I do agree some or our depth guys need to get more reps. I was real impressed with saulsberry til he got injured. I was even impressed with Greg Clark at times. Was Carr redshirted or did he play some snaps I can't remember.

If those are indeed his measurables and that's legit confirmed, IMO he is a take all damn day. That's why we have coaches, you can't pass on a kid that big that runs that fast I'm sorry. That project sounds like an A+ to me.

I think Carr got a few snaps in the first few games but was injured, or "injured," and will redshirt.

With Reed out of the picture, I'm liking this guy more and more and more. He would be a terror at DT on passing downs. See Corey Miller's highlights in the KY game. They moved him to DT in most of those sets. It was his quickness and hand movement that allowed him to penetrate so often.

Would hope the staff could get him on a weight gain regimen, so he could hold up well under the run, if needed. That kind of speed on the DL is not something you can coach, and he'd be very hard to throw over. Kind of reminds of the Giants former DT, Chris Canty.

If that is his real stats, could take as a TE.
half joking half serious.
Hadn't thought of that...but considering we are really hurting at TE right now, I could see it. 6'7"? That's Jimmy Graham tall. Could be a force, there. Jason Witten was a DE recruit, switched to TE...and the rest is history.
