'14 JUCO LB Chris Weatherd (UT Signee 2/5/14)

no school can prevent a walkon from practicing with a team from what I understand of ncaa guides. If you have a loan to pay your way for a while you can attempt to walk on until the paperwork gets right from what I understand. IF you are good enough then you can get a scholarship as soon as the ncaa agrees from the same statute.

I wouldn't pay for ruck's stuff either :eek:lol:

My boy has arrived! Let the debate....

Walk-on??? So, you are saying that he has chosen to move to Knoxville, walk-on, and start working out with the team until the NCAA clears him?

Don't think recruited players can't walk on after signing. I think Weatherd even took an official visit.

A walk on has to enroll in school to practice. If he can't enroll until fall, then he can't do anything.

I really hope he gets in. Clearly we remember the Loften situation and how was insistent he was cleared and whatnot. The timing is not in Weatherd's favor here, and Rucker's quote kind of affirms it.

Settle down guys. LWSVOL said he's just visiting and has not yet been cleared. If Larry took the time to say it, it's good as gold. The man is as solid as it gets regarding UT information on message boards.

Was hoping one of these would go UTs way. Looks like it's not going to this time. Could have used this kid on the field this year. Hard to see why these kids don't see the opportunity right in front of them.

Agreed. I couldn't imagine having the opportunity that these guys have and wasting it away because i couldnt manage to get school work done.

If I'm Butch, I insist on all of my Juco defensive players be EE's. Takes too long to get physically ready to play in this league.

Probably best if ALL Juco takes would be EEs. Seeing as you have them for less time, sooner they get in the better. If they can't get in early, then you know you have another spot to fill before NSD.

I thought about that, but the Patterson effect changed that thought. A juco in a skill position can be a game changer even if they arrive in the fall.

I'd probably make it the same across the board just so it all seems equal.

Especially now that CBJ and staff are recruiting like they are, I doubt we see a lot of Jucos taken much going forward. Better to build with HS kids long term. If your bringing in the right HS kids and developing them, the immediate need Juco guy should not be a big demand.
