The Vols have long been confident on Chris Weatherd handling things academically, and we are told Weather has, indeed, cleared all academic hurdles to gain admittance into UT. The athletic juco linebacker already has transitioned to Knoxville and though he's not working out with his teammates, Weatherd has impressed with his physical conditioning and development.
Additionally, Weatherd has taken the initiative to get with members of the Vols' defensive staff and start diving into the playbook. While it obviously cannot be fully official until classes begin next month, Weatherd appears on track to join the Vols in stride for the 2014 season. In fact, Weatherd was picking the brains of the Vols' coaches Monday afternoon as he pores over the playbook.
Assuming everything unfolds as indicated and Weatherd gains the final formal steps, it will mark the second straight year UT has batted 1.000 on getting signees admitted and onto campus.
