'14 JUCO LB Chris Weatherd (UT Signee 2/5/14)

why does 247 show 5 "insiders" all picking A/M for this guy? He's clearly a Tennessee commit and talks about Tennessee all the time. Are these people retarded?

Will Weatherd sign Dec 19?

I don't think so. I think Dec 18th is the signing date for mid-year transfers that are JUCOs and I think Weatherd has the same issue as Lauderdale. He found out late that he was going to have to take one more class in order to get into the SEC so he's planning to come in May. He would have to sign in Feb.

With the confusion a while back about him EEing do we think the limited EEs was the reason??

I would assume that wasn't the case but it was a weird back and forth with VQ and the kid

I missed the line about the one class. I hadn't seen that. Where did you see that?

Actually the one class line was from the Lauderdale thread. I just tied them together since Chris told SDS the reason he could no longer EE is because he needed more classes.

Got you. I don't understand how the class thing wasn't known from the beginning. Transcripts were evaluated at the very first of the process IMO

I don't know. I'm not certain all players (not referring here to the recruits) in this wheel are all that meticulous in their approach to their jobs. I remember prior to Blair's commitment he said he was having to wait on his counselor at his school to make sure he had the right classes to qualify for EE. Maybe his counselor actually went the extra mile to make sure there were no surprises with him coming into the SEC. In the case of Lauderdale and Weatherd we might not have had as adequate a performance by the respective schools. More to your point I'm not sure what our responsibility, meaning who in the UT organization, would involve from a details perspective. I rather doubt someone on our end dropped the ball. Instead I suspect when the final reports were sent to us we discovered that the recruit's academic preparation was not as initially advertised but it could have just been miscommunication too. I mean we have that on the football field so having it in this scenario wouldn't be all that shocking.

I was speaking about ut checking the transcripts. Zero chance we didn't evaluate the transcript at the beginning IMO. Maybe he dropped a class but who knows exactly

"Auburn also offered Chris Weatherd on Tuesday as Gus Malzahn stopped by Trinity Valley Community College. Auburn isn't the only school continuing to recruit Weatherd as Texas A&M plans to see him at some point and may have someone at his bowl game on Saturday. Also USC tried to get into the picture before Ed Orgeron resigned and don't be surprised if Orgeron makes a run at Weatherd wherever he pops up at next.

Weatherd told Volquest.com he doesn't plan on taking any more visits and that he is solid and continues to believe in Butch Jones and his staff. Interestingly enough, Jones called Weatherd just to check on him tonight and Weatherd informed him of the offer while informing him he had nothing to worry about.

While several staffs from several schools will plan to be at Weatherd's game on Saturday, Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek is expected on hand to take in the big game for Weatherd. We'll have a full update on Weatherd later this week."

From Butch after hearing about the AU offer.

"He just told me, 'You're blowing up, but you're not leaving me, right?'" Weatherd explained. "And I told him no."

"Most definitely still good," Weatherd said. "Honestly, whenever I look at Tennessee it's just that I feel comfortable whenever I'm there and that I don't have anything to worry about. I feel like I'll be taken care of better than any other place. I really don't think there's anything at all," Weatherd said. "I don't think there's anything a school can do to change my mind."

"I keep in touch with a lot of people like Vic (Wharton), Rashaan (Gaulden), (Dimarya) Mixon, who I didn't know was in Texas until a couple of weeks ago," Weatherd said. "We're just establishing a relationship before we even get to play with each other and that's great deal."

Weatherd expects Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek to take in his game and he's excited to see his future coach on Saturday.

"I'm really pumped for that. I'm going to have to show out," Weatherd added.
