'14 JUCO TX WR Kameel Jackson (UT walk-on)

Lol. Let me walk you through it.

Von is a RS Jr this season. He has this season (2014) and next (2015) to play unless (GOD FORBID) he gets a med RS. According to Hubbs last year, Kameel would have 2 to play 2. (That's 2 seasons, 2014 and 2015...this season and next) As I said in my original post (take a sec to read it again carefully...go ahead, I'll wait...back? Ok.) both will be gone after next season, that's after 2015. Reading comprehension is important.

So what you're REALLY trying to say is that Von is a RS Jr this season and will be gone after the 15 season, which gives him two full seasons of eligibility? Gotcha, so we were both right, I just misread your confusing comment about him being gone after next season, which is one season, in which he will play the season after. Thanks for clearing that up for me, and thanks for the directions, those came in handy.

Yeah, just saying it's not so outrageously crazy to think he could make the switch.

And I wasn't saying that this one particular case was the most insane one yet. What I was saying is that every single recruit we get has people clamoring for a position change before they even hit campus. And most of them are entirely unwarranted.

Sure, Kameel has played some DB. But, he is primarily a WR, and that is what he is being recruited to do. It's goofy to automatically ask about converting him to safety.

Players will play wherever they're needed most

Always a risk to lose a kid when he is forced to change positions.

Completely agreed! Nice new-ish avi btw! I enjoy your numbers :) And you never stop being you, no matter how much the jimmies have rustled over it. Props to that. Also, you're an anal-retentive prick :) GBO! :)

We have Randolph and McNeil at Safety plus McDowell and Kelly coming in to push for a starting spot. Lemmons is also coming on at the position. So we're good in our 2-deep rotation at safety.

Conversely, we have a good starting 3-4 at WR, but not much quality depth behind them. That's going to be Jackson's home, while he's here.

How much more quality depth do you want at WR?

When Pig Howard and someone with Croom's size/strength/speed are not likely to be starters, you've got quality depth.

You can make a point without being the biggest d*** in the universe. E-cred has been won and literally no one cares.

You likely have North, Croom and Pearson starting. Malone will probably be an initial backup to Croom = he shares an equal amount of reps with him (Croom).

Pig ain't likely to come back and that leaves you with Josh "brick hands" Smith, Jonathan Johnson, and Blanc. Ryan Jenkins might get in the mix if he can ever get healthy, and Bowles has been MIA for the most part.

That is a mighty big gap in talent once you get passed Malone.

So "next season" means 2015. I did not know that either. Thanks for politely clearing that up for us dumb asses.

Well its been said several times now that Pig is more than likely back. He met with the player staff the other day to decide his fate. Also there have been several reports that Jenkins is healthy and has been working his butt off.

No way Croom starts over Malone. Especially with Malone having gotten the experience from spring as an EE.

I dunno. Just depends on what the coaches are looking for, and how things develop over the summer/fall. It's likely, but not certain, the starters will include 3 recievers. We could see two TEs or RBs. If that's the case I doubt Malone is out there. Also, my guess would be that we're going to rely on our run game again, and Croom I'm betting is a far better blocker.

Malone's definitely for the upside, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion he gets the start.

You may think that, but he was listed behind Croom during the Spring. Whether he ends up supplanting Croom, we'll have to wait and find out. Either way, the point is behind those 4, there is a big dropoff in talent.

I would feel pretty confident betting on Malone starting.

Doubt it matters much, those guys will be rotating in and out the entire game to stay fresh. Will depend more on the play to be ran.

Ya know, after going back and reading this it maps absolutely no sense at all. Both will not be gone after next season no matter which way you slice the pie. 2015 is the season after next. 2014 is "next season" bro. Math is also an important subject.
