'14 JUCO TX WR Kameel Jackson (UT walk-on)

it did for ole miss. lots of playmakers, lots of moving parts and youth on OL, a turnover prone qb......just slashed ppl with run game and short throws to playmakers. took a few deep shots every game though

I think the worry about our O-line is a brash overreaction by fans who have been burned way to many time. Our O-line will possibly start 4 Jrs. It wont be like our last O-line rebuild when we started all freshman. These guys are physically ready to play in the SEC and will only get stronger before the season starts. Our interior O-line play has the potential to be very good and once Blair comes around our O-line will be good.

Thank you!! I am tired of people crying about the OL and DL losses. I think we upgraded along the defensive line, and the OL may be a wash.

oh i agree. ive tried to say that around here before. Not only will some be juniors but three of them will be 4th year juniors at that. Marcus Jackson would have started at several school in the SEC last yr. it was a smart move by butch to RS him so they could keep him around longer.

edit: sorry for double post

Good, no. Decent enough, yes,

Yep. Not the rebuild we had a few years back, but pass protection especially is going to be rough. I do think run blocking will be closer to as good, but going long stretches without a sack like the past couple years isn't going to happen, IMO.

Exactly. Lots of people around here are assuming it's all a motivational tactic for Blair, and they may be right, but right now we have absolutely zero evidence to point to that being the case.

It wasn't a motivational tactic so much as Blair was just too out of shape - that does tend happen every now and then with JUCO linemen. He should be in shape when practice starts again. We're fortunate he was an EE so he has time to make that transition.

I'm fully aware that is the hope, me included, but him getting into shape isn't a given. Even if he does, it doesn't mean he'll automatically be great.

Unless he's not going through summer workouts at all there is a very slim chance that he's not in shape by August.

Currently start a Freshman, a walk on and 2 unproven, new starters... Yeah I don't see it.. At all

Will they be last year's o-line? No but they we be physically able to compete at a high level. Like you said they are unproven but they do have talent.

I have no clue what Blair is or isn't doing so this isn't me saying that this is true of him but there are guys in big programs all over the country who never do the work necessary to get in actual playing shape. Pretty sure the summer workout sessions are all voluntary and, despite the best efforts of the leaders on the team, there is nothing to actually make someone put in their best effort. Again, I hope by August that Blair is in great shape and a world beater but so far we have nothing to point to that being the case.

Summer workouts are not voluntary.

There is no reason to think that Blair is not going to be in much better shape to play SEC football in August.

The great news is that Blair discovered in March, that what he brought to the table was not going to cut it

He will have had 5 additional months by kickoff to make the effort/develop to become an SEC football player
