'14 KY QB Drew Barker

This guy has always struck me as a prototypical Spurrier QB. Not surprised to see P Fort say that.

He actually reminds me a lot of the Dan Lefevour kid who Jones excelled with at QB when he up at Central Michigan. I think he'd be a great fit for the kind of offense Jones likes to run. But he would also be a better fit in Spurrier's offense than he would in that spread UK is going to run.

I really thought Dan was going to be the next Tom Brady (late round pick who became elite). Unfortunately, he was not...

He was still a baller in college though..

He sure was a baller in college. The kid single-handedly beat Michigan State his senior season. I figured it would be an uphill climb for him in the NFL. Is he no longer in the league?

I hope we get this kid. I fear UT will become a big player when they get him on campus. UT has, imo, far and away the best facilities in the country. None can really compare.

He reminds me of Stephen Garcia in HS.

Barker is going to be busy the upcoming week. Three days each at UT, then UK, and then the spring game at USC. From what it appears, I don't think the facilities is going to matter that much to Barker, or he would not have UK second with all the schools who have recruited him, unlike what another poster said.

If that's the case, then its Kentucky IMO. He hasn't visited here with the new staff yet (yes I know he's expected in this weekend).

However, he's already saying he knows when he wants to announce and who for.... I don't like UT's chances. Too much instate pressure

I agree. I think Stoops sold him on the "air raid" and playing early. Think he's UK bound.

Just wondering.... what leads you to believe that?

Fortenberry posted this 2 days ago...

South Carolina has a pretty sizable lead, but he's interested in Tennessee and knows some of the commitments like Todd Kelly. I think the staff likes Barker, and if even they do push, I don't expect a commitment or anything like that.

They have a few quarterbacks they really like right now.

Barker set a date because after this wknd he will have seen in depth the main 3 programs on his mind. Doesn't mean he has closed yet to anyone

Dang, I don't even know how I missed that quote from Paul lol

Last year, USCe took Connor Mitch... pretty good QB IMO. And Kentucky didn't get anybody at that position.... like usual

I dont think we can assume hes going to uk. Based on the amount of visits and quotes from articles, south carolina has to be the assumption. with ut and uk coming in 2nd. will be interesting to see what happens after the visit this weekend. he will be recruited after he commits regardless.

The ESPN Watch List prospect is among a small group of prospects in Knoxville, Tenn. That will give Tennessee's coaches plenty of time to spend with the 6-foot-4, 205-pound pocket passer. While Barker has always expressed interest in the Volunteers, he could be affected by the fact that Tennessee signed two highly rated quarterbacks in the 2013 class. Barker has also shown interest in Louisville, Kentucky and Ohio State. Tennessee coaches have said they'd like to sign a quarterback in every class.

He has now elected to attend UK's spring game instead of ours.

as much as i like ya darth i have to root for Uk if hes not coming here. ive never worried when ky lands one or two great players. never seems like enough to make them scary. Spurrier, however, with a great QB, scares the hell out of me lol
