'14 KY QB Drew Barker

No offense but I'm thinking it was just you. Thought it sounded positive. Only part that wasn't was him saying "more than I thought" a couple times. Not sure why he came in with such low expectations.

No offense taken. I think it sounded positive but more just because of his low expectations. Like, "Hmm, not as sucky as I thought." Hope it's just me misreading it.

Ok. Got it. I couldn't figure why he had low expectations coming in either.

Barker will not be coming here IMO. Taking the 2 in the last class and the chance that both could redshirt is going to hurt us with QB recruiting this year. Hope I am wrong. I think we need to consider QBs rated about 25-40 if we hope to land one. Maybe a local kid would fit the bill.

Luckily our new coaches don't have that mentality. We will land a big QB this class. Cornwell, Henderson, Barker, someone IMO. Our coaches are going after the best and creating competition which is what the great programs do.

Either lukewarm or polite, you decide.

And for escapegoat...Stooooooooooops!

I hope we can land a top 10-15 type QB for the 2014 class. I agree that building depth in the SEC is important. The depth charts matters to a lot of kids and unless your winning national titles, most won't choose to wait their turn(2-3 years) before they get the starting nod. Would love it if we landed a Barker or Cornwell. I just don't see it playing out that way.

If you guys will just be patient a bit longer we'll let you know if UK and USCe get to fight over our table scraps.

Maybe one of your teams will beat us this year. UT has been down, of course, so they have an excuse given that they have dominated the series before this down spell. Clemson, on the other hand, has had all this talent, yet we still manage to beat you with nothing more than a backup running back, a backup quarterback, and a walk-on point guard. Maybe this year will be Clemson's year (but probably not).

Thx for the post, Lynx. Is it just me, or did it seem lukewarm?

No problem. :hi:

I think Barker really likes UT. I don't think he had the normal "fluffing UT" comments like other recruits that we're getting used to seeing simply because it's his style of dealing with the media so far. Everyone recruit deals with the attention differently.

And LebanonVolunteer, that outlook on recruiting ANY position is what makes a team lukewarm (since we seem to be using that word frequently in this thread). UT needs to try to land one top QB in every class. Apply that logic to Alabama's RBs. They are absolutely loaded, yet they still land top RBs every class. That is what makes them a great team.

I'm not sure you want to bring up the past. That W-L record vs either team isn't pretty.
Edit: I guess I should congratulate you guys on the best run in your history. Welcome to the big boy table.

1. That's because I don't dwell in the past (like Clemson does as that is all they have to cling to. Case in point would be Dabo after the 2011 arse-kicking we gave you in Columbia).

2. That W-L record sure has helped you against SC the last few years.

Thank you.

Welcome to the big boy table.

Enjoy the little kids table. That's where ACC football teams belong.

Most losing teams (with no championships in even the their half of the division) don't dwell on the past.

It's hard to do when you don't have much to dwell on. It doesn't change the fact that the W-L record you chose to bring up has helped you very little in the present.

We really don't need to sign a QB this. We need all the scholarships as possible for LB, DLine, Oline and DBs

IMO bama keeps loading up on RBs and pretty much anyone else they want because they just keep winning. Yes, some teams recruit better than others. I'm not saying we should not try and land a top rated QB. I just don't think one chooses to come here after taking 2 last year. Had we been a 10 win team in 2013 and playing in a New Years day bowl game, maybe that would be different. If we happen to take out OR this year and beat a USCe, UGA, UF, or someone we are not supposed to then it may change things. If we are a 6-7 win team with 2 elite 11 QBs being red shirted, I seriously can't see us getting another one.

Certainly agree with you regarding schollys for LB, DL, OL and DB, but I think we should sign 1 qb every cycle. Especially when we're in on a guy like Cornwell and we can sign up to 31.

Lol. I was at last years game. Clemson was dominated. It was ugly. Congratulations. I will assure you however that Clemson is improving every year. Even if they weren't I love the town, school and game day atmosphere.
