'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

The kid is 16, one more year of highschool ball and RedShirt is pretty much a guarantee. His latest numbers to come out are great IMO. 4.6 40. His size and frame has the potential to be monstrous. Most likely three years until he sees action. It sounds good to me guys.
15 sacks as a LB and he really should be in the 2015 class, that's pretty good. And from reading his comments, seems like he wants to prove himself bad, and will work hard at it. I really feel like this kid will be good.

I actually love this pickup. 4.6 forty, fantastic shuttle time, frame to add weight. The recruiting sites cant evaluate all the kids. I will take Thig and BJ's evaluation over the "recruiting analysts" until proved otherwise

People blast Carson as a "Dooley reach" in his thread upon rumors of him transferring while people are elated about having a kid Old Dominion and Delaware were chasing. Lulz #negavol #hewillblowup #Mouhon&Batesneed2jumponboardb4spotisgone

Hey MD, I gather from your posts that you are close to Jerome. Please don't let the naysayers get you down. Most of these guys are going off old measurables that were posted on Scout. Primarily that 5.47 on the 40 time. We know that to be inaccurate. Most importantly CBJ and Coach Thig think he's good enough to not only take, but to take in June when we have other 4* and 5* guys on the board. There is obviously something special that the coaches see in Jerome and that is plenty good enough for me and the vast majority of Volnation.

SINCERELY... WELCOME! BOOOOMMM!!!! AND VFL!!!!

:good!:

Has Dews committed?

"He says yes. Other indications are that he's likely to be a grayshirt and that's what he was offered last night.

In other words we got confusion on what's really going on."

Ima splain some things here.

If I don't get a "COMMIT 6/24" next to his name in this thread title, real soon... there will be one less match, and one less mattress in my possession.

Lead story in the evening news will be: "UT Fans burn mattresses and fling beer bottles due to lack of thread title update!"

Would not surprise me at all. Kind of figured that was the hold up on anything coming out. Gray shirt makes sense this early with his offer list. 5 days before NSD and we miss on 10 other LBs, maybe then he is a take on scholarship. Guess we just wait to see how it all unfolds.

The way I see it this is CBJ's team. Who am I to question any recruit he offers and accepts a commitment from? I love the Vols and have to trust that this staff will pick kids that work well in their system. I don't dislike the commitment. Apparently the kid showed out and the coaches decided he could offer something to this team. I wasn't at the camp so I dunno? I hope he turns out to contribute in 2-3 years.

Just talked to Wilkerson and Hyams, and they quoted some good stats for him. Sounds like he might be diamond in the rough, but he is coming to a good place to develop. For those who might question this commitment, just go back and look at the star ratings in the past classes. Lots of 5 stars sit on their talent and fizzle, while guys like this come in with something to prove. For us older folks, remember Craig Puki? Anytime his name was announced as being in on a tackle, PUUUUKIII was yelled out by the entire crowd. I can hear DEEEEEEEEEEWS being yelled out already.
