'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

It's odd for no site to be able to confirm a kid is a commitment close to 24 hrs after it happened. Hope this works out for the kid and everything is on the up and up. Kind of has a Kevin Hart feel to it honestly.

Feel bad for the kid. The day he commits should be one of the best days of his life. Not a day in which he has to deal with adversity.

In a year where we can take 30 people, there's a lot less potential downside to taking a guy like this. We're talking about taking 5-7 linebackers, so worst case scenario is he gets buried on the depth chart behind very talented players. That could happen to almost any of the players we'll sign, not just him.

On the other hand, there's so much potential upside if he contributes. Not only do we get his on-field production, but we also get the reputation of a program that looks at talent rather than stars and has the ability to develop players. That counts for a lot.

I hope he keeps battling and working hard. He's earned himself a great opportunity, and I'd love to see him make the most of it.

The way I see it this is CBJ's team. Who am I to question any recruit he offers and accepts a commitment from? I love the Vols and have to trust that this staff will pick kids that work well in their system. I don't dislike the commitment. Apparently the kid showed out and the coaches decided he could offer something to this team. I wasn't at the camp so I dunno? I hope he turns out to contribute in 2-3 years.

Do any of the Vols coaches work for the recruiting sites if not, give it a rest my man, lets clear this up so we can end this thread, No he wont be a walk on, yes he will most likely redshirt, yes its a full scholly offer, and stop worrying about websites posting commits, it will come soon enough, the way you talking you would think you have B. Jones and Thigpen on speed dial, and if you do give them a call and hear from the head Vols mouth, because thats where we got our info from....That is all!!!

Hey MD, I gather from your posts that you are close to Jerome. Please don't let the naysayers get you down. Most of these guys are going off old measurables that were posted on Scout. Primarily that 5.47 on the 40 time. We know that to be inaccurate. Most importantly CBJ and Coach Thig think he's good enough to not only take, but to take in June when we have other 4* and 5* guys on the board. There is obviously something special that the coaches see in Jerome and that is plenty good enough for me and the vast majority of Volnation.

SINCERELY... WELCOME! BOOOOMMM!!!! AND VFL!!!!

I don't dislike it either but I get flamed just for second guessing what's going on here bc nobody knows? It's pretty clear there is some details to this that we don't know or else he would be listed.

Dont feel bad for him brother, he is elated, he is laughing at all this foolishness....he works entirely to hard to let some dudes on computers get to him, he fulfilling his dream, he could care less about a couple of clowns pecking negativity on a keyboard, but he knows it comes with the territory!

^^ Truth

Some people are acting as if CBJ has to call them and get their approval before he accepts a commit. Being a passionate fan CAN cut both ways I guess.

Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders then. I wish him well.

I was busy when CBJ called for my opinion earlier. I will call him back later and discuss things with him. Maybe we can agree on things and the kid will show up as a commitment tomorrow. Maybe not. :zeitung_lesen:

He probably just isn't listed as a commitment on Rivals etc., because they just can't believe a guy they haven't rated would get a commitable offer and our coaches are just too busy to confirm with them (why should they?). Mods here should list him as a UT Commit IMO.

Ok. Now what about all the others?

Ima splain some things here.

If I don't get a "COMMIT 6/24" next to his name in this thread title, real soon... there will be one less match, and one less mattress in my possession.

247 rated him a 2*

#174 athlete on their composite rankings.

With how much CBJ and company seem to value commitments, I would think they would be quick to confirm them as soon as possible.

Coaches dropping hints on twitter. Other commitments talking it up on twitter. Nothing.
