'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

WR? Interesting. I do like his size. If he's really 6'4 he could develop into a decent pass rusher as well.

I think TE would fit him well personally. Not sure if we need 20+ receivers next year.

that's where I think he will end up..he will probably be 6'6" to 6'8" when he is finished growing..perfect size for a TE..you don't see many LBers that tall because they get cut too easy..in fact the tallest WR was Harold Carmichael at 6'8" there is such a thing as being too tall for football

nope that quote came from Dews himself

Much to Dews’ pleasure, coach Ronnie Crump slots him at just about every position on the field, where he can lay a hit on just about anybody. Dews was originally recruited by the Volunteers to play outside linebacker, but has since been told he will likely play receiver in the Southeastern Conference. Crump, meanwhile, regularly rotates the 6-foot-4, 200 pound athlete between linebacker, receiver, cornerback, defensive end and tight end.

That's not Dews himself

Playing every position on the field is good unless you end up positionless. He's a good athlete and incase some of you failed to notice we need more athletes. I compare him to JRM. If anyone watched him in HS they noticed he was everywhere and anywhere his team needed him. Now look at JRM, a m'fing special teams monster. All imo

that might work...but he would have to gain a lot of weight to take on D-1 lineman..not always easy to do on a tall frame

Curt Maggitt was 200lbs when he signed with UT. He's now 240lbs. I'm sure our S&C coach would have no trouble putting weight on Dews, it's his job.

I'd say rush DE is a 90% possibility. Too many WRs already, and if he keeps growing he will be too tall for LB. We have 2 TEs in this class already. RS him and bulk him up the next 2 seasons and unleash the beast in Bristol!

he is talking to Dews in the article whats makes you think he didn't ask him that question? point is that he will not be a LB..he will be too tall for that position

Also if there isn't a direct quote then it was likely not a serious notion

I think his scholarship would be better served elsewhere in this case. Dews may turn out to be nice player down the road, but there are better cherries to pick from right now, especially when it comes to linemen prospects that we desperately need at this point.
