'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

was the wording intentional or are we all pulling a Bruin?

Seemed intentional.

I think what it possibly means is our staff still wants to gray shirt Dews and if Dews gets other good offers he may decide he doesn't want to gray shirt anymore. IMO.

I think Fort is operating under the assumption we will offer a grey shirt and he may go elsewhere if he has another option.

Got Swanson'd.

This makes sense. Think he ends up elsewhere?

It's hard to say. He seems to have bonded really well with the other recruits and appears to be all Vol. But if he keeps playing well he's going to get more offers and it might be hard for UT to keep him as a gray shirt. I hope he ends up a Vol, he seems to be a really good FB player and we need as many of those as we can get.

I would also hate to lose him but if we do, there will be another really good FB player taking that scholarship. Hopefully, he is still willing to grey-shirt!

Maybe we let him fill out into a DE? Anthony Barr was a RB coming out of high school and now he's one of the best 3-4 OLBs (equivalent of a 4-3 DE/LEO) in CFB.

This kid is interesting to try to tag him at just one position.

Dews is having a great year. I like him alot...but there are bigger fish wanting to get in the pan. Still needs to grey-shirt.

I get what your saying about Barr, but would add that he was a running back coming out of high school to UCLA while many projected him as a LB from the start. One of the main reasons that he didn't follow in the rest of his families footsteps (Tony Brooks, Reggie Brooks, and Cedric Figaro) to Notre Dame is that they wanted him at LB.

All true.

And then:

hold up, is that butch without his top button buttoned? Can't be :)

"Carried away in the heat of emotion, Tennessee Vols HC Butch Jones reportedly led the Pride of the Southland Band without his trademark polo shirt completely buttoned. What does it mean for the rest of Tennessee's season?? Find out from our inside sources at 8." ($)

I really don't want to lose dews or grey shirt him. He just has tremendous potienal at various positions. It's hard to get an idea for how he would develop as a football player but you can tell he will succeed if he had a motivator like Butch.
