'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

Im his father!

Well then welcome! Glad to have you. I hope you don't pay too much attention to some of these folks. All fan bases have some bad apples. With that said talking about Jeromes competition has no affect on what we think ofhim. He's a vol and that's all that matters to us!

MDO. This may have already been covered but does Jerome play a spring sport? I.e. Track. I was just curious. TIA.

Thank you. All I said was the competition he plays against isn't good. Didn't bash him, MD players, coaches, Vols, or anything. Lol
For the record its been all kinds of derogatory sh@# said about him since the day he committed, from we dont want him to calling him Tink Tink ect. What kind of sh#$ is that!

Thanks. Please keep us updated on his track season. We are really glad Jerome is a Vol and please don't read to much into our discussions. We just love our team and love to discuss. No harm is meant by anything.

The coaches make the decisions. A lot of posters on here forget that their opinion is useless but it is a message board so they will post their crap. If Butch wants Jerome then I do too.

That is garbage. There are a whole lot of UT fans that get behind anyone that decides to wear the Big Orange. Tell your son that 99% of us are firmly behind him and to ignore the stupid people in our fanbase.

Then dont post about it!

Before this goes too far in the wrong direction, I just wanted to say I meant no harm by my comment about the players looking small in the video. Your son looks like a heck of a player and we will be glad to get his LOI on signing day and no one in this thread has said otherwise.

With that said...as a dad of a future D1 player you need to know we are a very passionate fan base. There will be occasional comments that will ruffle your feathers. Fans will critique players performances. It's what we do. However, it's that passion that allows for 85-90k fans at every home game despite 4 straight losing seasons. We will cheer your son like crazy when he runs though the T. Sometimes a line will be crossed but that is the same for every fan base of a high level BCS school. Sadly it comes with the territory. Try not to judge the entire fan base too harshly over a careless comment on social media or a message board.

Thanks for listening dad!:good!:

you may want back track on this thread, but nonetheless, its cool i for one am not gone sit back and not defend my child, like i said before when he gets here, and plays, you folks can criticize all you want, but damn, let him enroll first, and if his play requires negative criticism we will live with that, we will except that just like we will except praise when he plays well.

Hey, I think your son can be the best thing since sliced bread here. I'm glad coming to UT.

MDObserver,

Please don't let a few bad apples ruin your feelings towards the Vol family. Some people enjoy either subtle jabs or outright negative talk about recruits. Every fanbase has a lot of armchair scouts who, for some odd reason, aren't coaching but know what makes an SEC football player.

Do I believe college players should be criticized by fans? Sure - it's part of being a bigtime college athlete. But you nailed it when you mentioned that your kid and other HS kids aren't even graduated yet.

I know you don't need me defending you, but for some reason the subtle jabs bothered me. As a Tennessee alum I'd like to say again that we have the best fans in America, but we do have some bad apples.

Looking forward to your son making an impact on our team, our university, and more importantly in our community.

Dews is obviously a good player. It has just always been difficult to tell how lesser HS competition translates to the major D1 competition. Really, its tough to tell even against the best HS competition sometimes.

That said, the only thing I want is for TN to dominate, so I hope Jerome Dews is the biggest stud on the planet and tears up the competition. Don't care who it is as long as it helps TN win!

Ok, I'd be very upset about that too. That is terrible. I never meant any slight towards Jerome. He's clearly the best player on the field. Quick off the ball, gets to the QB woth ease, and is extremely athletic. Has a good frame and looks like he will be a hell of a passrusher. I also meant no slight towards MD players at all... just the competition, as a whole, in the film. I'm not sure how that had anything to do with me being a "fake fan." I love the Vols and the people that play for them. It's clear your son bleeds orange and I can't wait to see him rep the Power T. The way I feel about the competition he faced reflects only that, not the talent he has.

wU you told me last week you didn't believe in the Vols and were fine being an Auburn fan if they won the title game?

No one should be blaming you for this situation. And you shouldn't have to explain your previous comments as they were obviously not a slight against Dews.
