'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

Weight issue is laughable.

With a grey shirt this year, and not saying this will happen, but a red shirt next year, he could be a redshirt freshman taking the field in 2016 at 227, taking an extremely conservative figure of one pound per month. Odds are, he will put that on in under 18 months, and by 2016, easily be around 240+ if that's where they want him

Used to hear a lot of "Poooooooole" when Tauren Poole had a good run. Was thinking David Oku got some "Okuuuuuuuuuu" as well. I feel very confident that if Jerome plays matchmaker between opposing players and the turf, Neyland will reward him.

I remember hearing Okuuuuuuuuu..........once.

MDO, what weight is Jerome up to now? I saw him this weekend and he looks thicker through the legs than he did in his senior film
He is 200lb right now, grayshirt is still in the air but not definite, we see it this way, red or grey shirt he will have a chance to grow and learn the system as opposed to the true freshman who gets thrown right into the fire right away, Jerome had a great chalk talk and film session with Coach Thig on his visit, i sat in on their session, and like coach Thig i was impressed with Jerome ability to pick up some of there lingo , sets and reads. We believe its an advantage to him across the board.

Dews had a killer highlight tape, and he's clearly an athlete with the potential to grow. But, dude who's arguing with everyone has a fair point about his current size. Unless he gets wider through the chest and shoulders, which is certainly possible at his age, it's going to be difficult for him to put on that much weight.

At age 17, my coat size was a 38, by 18 it was a 40, by 20 it was a 42 long.

No worries, it is still early.

I agree and wish we had the current depth to red shirt the majority of every signing class...hopefully after next season's class UT will be back to full strength on the depth chart and in a position to red shirt a higher percentage of the 2016 signing class!

And then still only be 19! So yea, no worries here.

Vols commitment Jerome Dews enjoys official visit to Tennessee

SIAP.

Dews called the UT visit "excellent". Said it was the best visit that he's had. Said he was glad to get back down to UT, because Foundation week was his last visit to UT. He spent time with Payne and Sutton. Neiko Creamer was his host. He said the coaches believe that he's Kevin Hart because he's so funny.

Dews said Neyland Stadium was the highlight of the trip. Thig told him that he wants him at Will LB. Said he wants Dews to watch Maggitt this year. The coaches expect Dews to gain another inch of height and become 6'5 and they want him around 230-235 lbs.

Said Purdue is still recruiting him hard. Not sure if he will visit. Regardless, he said he's "100%" with UT.

MDObserver From your point of view, does the UT/ VT game in Bristol play into recruiting in any way? I know if I had a chance to be a part of something that big, I would want in.

Likewise, would you be willing to share what your family found to be the biggest high and low points of the recruiting process?
