'14 NC CB Emmanuel Moseley (UT Commit 9/10/13)

I like Gaulden at CB because he gives the DB group flexibility. He could play any spot which means Jancek can move him around in game.

Also, we kinda need him there. Our CB group is really thin. Payne is the only natural corner. Everyone else is an athlete CWM will have to teach.
Don't get me wrong Moseley probably has a lot to work on, but he's a guy who DID play CB in HS. Just because he was a QB as well doesn't mean he's moving into uncharted water at CB. That's like saying Malone and Hurd are in the same situation because they both played S as well as WR and RB respectively.

Joe Haden wasn't a CB before Florida. That move turned out great. Most great CBs never play CB heavy until college. Dee Miliner is another HS safety turned elite college CB. Marcus Roberson played FS in HS. Shutdown Hunter, Benjamin, and Mike Evans as a sophomore. It's all about coaching and athleticism. These kids have the athleticism and great coaching by CWM(favorite coach on staff).

We have TK and Randolph at FS, and we have one out of three proven CB. The only direct quote from coaches or Gaulden has been they want him at CB, the safety talk has all been second hand from VQ.

And Buck Fitzgerald. The guy who runs Playmakers Academy where Gaulden works out. He seems like a guy who would know Gauldens skill set over most. JMO.

and of course from the Nov 13 video of Gaulden I posted earlier with he himself saying on camera that the coaches wanted him at FS.

True, but Gaulden himself said they want him at CB. Seems like that's gotta be the main source unless coaches come out and say differently. I guess we'll see in a few months.

I think he was talking about coaches in general in that interview. I guess it doesn't matter in the end, but the only time I saw our coaches specifically mentioned by him he said they were recruiting him at CB. The opportunity is much better there for him, I doubt he could beat out TK.

Right my point was that the dude said Emmanuel was just an ATH being thrown out at CB when he hadn't played there and that is far from true. He played CB in HS as well as QB and people seem to forget that. We all know about athletes that get coached up we have a few ourselves like North (played QB in HS), Creamer (who played WR in HS) the Berry's, etc. That wasn't my argument at all.

I have no idea who will play where. But what I like about this discussion is that we seem to have a half dozen or more elite athletes to choose from in our defensive backfield this fall.

Night and day from where we've been the last five plus years.

You mean no walk-on players in the defensive backfield?

I was in agreement with you. :)

People have disagreements all the time on this site but rarely does someone stick with their argument after video evidence has been posted to the contrary. He PLAINLY said "they want me at free safety" AFTER the inverviewer asked him what position they wanted him at, AFTER he just got finished saying he committed to TN. Not sure how anyone could take that any other way.

I don't know where he ends up playing at UT, but the young man plainly said the UT coaches told him that they want him at FS.

Never saw that video, was just speculating. Only thing I ever saw of him speaking was when he said he was being recruited exclusively as CB at Tennessee.

You responded to a post about that video. So if you hadn't watched the video then why make assumptions?

I guess that's what I don't get. It seems like argument for arguments sake.

I said I THINK he was probably talking about coaches in general in that video, because it didn't jive with the words I did see come right out of his mouth that said, "Tennessee is recruiting me to play CB, not FS like other schools."

No assumptions about if he was probably talking about Tennessee coaches, he said specifically Tennessee coaches.

Then post the video you are talking about......

Lol yes sir, I'll happily go through a years worth of recruiting info to find it. The article is in his thread look for it yourself. I'd have to care a lot about your opinion of my opinion to go through the trouble of digging up evidence to defend myself against you. You want to be opinion police, go find your own evidence.
