Against awful competition. The Big 10 isn't the SEC. If Alden Hill played in the Big 10, he'd probably be an All-American RB, but this the SEC, where real defense is played. That is why Butch is going after elite backs only, not projects.

Not this year..there were some really bad SEC defenses this yr.hopefully this yr was the exception and now the new rule.

IMO if WI thinks Kinlaw can play RB there, he could do well anywhere. GT is another place who does well recruiting RBs. I understand the idea of wanting the top 5-10 type player, it does not always play out that way. I also get the thought of if you don't get the top 5 guy, save the ship and try again next year. You just can't keep doing that as eventually your walk-ons are playing 35 snaps a game.

and then when they take a low ranked RB you will be mad about it. lol

Not at all. I think Kinlaw is going to prove to be a very good RB in college. I would also point out he is rated the same or higher than over a half dozen of our current commits. Am I mad we took Vic Wharton? Nope.

There's about a 10% chance Spurier is his coach by the time he is a senior. That has to play some role.

Kinlaw is a 5.5 3 star on rivals, he would be tied with Medley, Dews and Moseley as lowest rated commits. On 247 he's an 85 3 star, he would be tied with Dews, Raulerson, Moseley, Elliott Berry, Wharton and only higher ranked than Medley. And most importantly he would be our lowest RB commit by far.

I know you like Kinlaw, most of us liked him for a time back in the spring and summer but the fact is we need an SEC caliber RB and it's clear UT and the rest of the SEC don't feel Kinlaw is that guy. I wish him well in Wisconsin and hope he proves us all wrong, except you of course, you knew all along he was going to be a star! :)

Defenses will be a lot better next year. Georgia, LSU and bama are rebuilding this year just to name a few. Hopefully we can be at least good next year.

Were not trying to be Wisconsin or GT.

Butch is trying to be an SEC powerhouse like Bama and LSU.

In order to do that you need athletes like Derrell Scott not Kinlaw.

X1000. He still is stuck in the Derek Dooley is our coach mindset. His offer list is similar to that of guys like Tom Smith and Alden Hill. Butch is recruiting at a totally different level now, no more reaching on guys.

I agree. LSU should be unreal on D next year. They are loaded and were just young. Hopefully the Juco guys we have coming in are as good as their rating and the secondary will be much faster and bigger, just young. I really think we will be much improved on both sides of the bsll.

Apparently Michael Clark, recruiting analyst for scout, said someone close to Scott told him this morning that UT leads but it's close.

Boooom

5* Derrick Green killed those weak defenses this season

Would be awesome to another back of his caliber to this class. Would definitely feel like the good old days.
