I just think that threshold had already been passed. Every day that passes makes us more of a favorite IMO

I have not felt comfortable with his coming and thought he would announce by now for USCe despite our situation having more potential for him.

It would be a great tandem pairing with Hurd due to the contrast in styles and Paulk being shelved for a period. However, I now think Bruin may be on to something. If USCe was the choice he most likely would have declared by now. No reason to wait with them. He may be seriously thinking it through and getting assurances on PT from Butch, or he may be timed to announce as part of the plan. Either way I now have hope.

From what little I have read and heard on Paulk, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cleared to play by fall. How many of us would have thought Adrian Peterson would have been back so quickly from his knee surgury? And his may have been much more extensive. Point is Paulk's statements about his rehab leads me to believe he might be ready faster than first thought. Still iffy, but very possible.

However, even if Paulk is ready that fast, the only returning back that has shown anything close to impressive is Lane. We are yet to see what Pickett brings to the table, and Hurd is carrying a load of expectations. If Scott comes in, he have a huge chance to be well upgraded at running back.

I'm sure Paulk is a great athlete, but AP isn't human

I think Pickett will be a nice addition. He has real speed and will be ready to contribute game 1. He has had a year in the weight room and should know his play book.

Tend to forget about him and really shouldn't since the coaches are high on him. The extra maturity he now has will help us.

It was an above average defensive backfield against a way below average wide receiving core, especially without North for the majority of the game. Azzani did a pretty good job with what he had. We'll have a better idea of what he can do after this year considering Pearson and Malone will both be EE's. Also, North got much better as the season progressed.

Hahaha every recruiting class we've had recently posters say "can you imagine defenses trying to guard x, y and z at the same time? It's going to be a matchup nightmare!"

Now it's Azzani didn't have anyone to work with. VN changes with the wind and is always right.

So true.

Yeah but you have to admit North, Malone, Pearson, Howard and Helm sound like a nightmare matchup :)

Yeah... but last year much the same was being said about the potential of that group with Pig, North, Croom, Harris, etc.+

No realistic fan was expecting that inexperienced group to be a match up advantage for us. That just isn't true

Agree with Bruin here...there were a lot of unrealistic expectations with last year's team. Better QB play would have helped, but that was an extremely inexperienced group...

and it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind never knowing who to cling to when the rain set in. thus, volnation=elton john

I know.... and erroneously so as a whole. North, Pearson, Malone, Pig and Helm does sound like the nucleus of a very good receiving group. Let's see is Azzani can get em coached up.....he did a poor job with the '13 WRs IMO.

Elder had little to nothing to work with at TE and Helm is a major upgrade....just needs to add about 25lbs and quick.

So much this. You see what happened to RGIII by rushing back. AP has ruined injury rehab expectations for all athletes.

Normal rehab time is 10-12 months. Paulk tore his ACL in mid-September. They don't have to rush to get him ready unless he's not mentally ready to test his knee.

Pearson, Helm, and Malone are going to be new players on the team with NO experience last time I checked. North will be a sophomore.

North, pig, and Pearson have played plenty of college football to expect good things from them.

I expect smith to be a factor next year as well.

Malone and our other true freshmen will show flashes of great potential.

All in all I expect a very nice jump from last year.

Yes, this years group and last years group were both inexperienced however we have the number two WR in the country coming out of high school in North who will likely be improved in his second year. We have a highly regarded 5-star in Malone who has the ability to come in and have the same type of impact due to his early enrollment and the fact that he is more polished as a receiver than North was at the time. Lastly we have the number 2 JUCO WR enrolling in January. The difference in talent levels and the time to prepare this young receiving core is far greater this go round.

Downs injury may have slowed him down but he has/had both experience and talent. Branisel is also talented.

I am still uncertain about Azzani. Probably more than any other coach on O. Overall, I tend to think the O staff will be successful. I would LOVE to have Baggett coaching this kind of athletic talent.

I don't fall in love with new players or give up on old ones as fast as many of you do. It happens every year here. In the excitement of the new players... folks forget about the excitement they had for the old ones... who still have talent... but have been working their tails off to get their talent ready for the field.

Croom, Bowles, J Smith, etc didn't just stop having talent. They still need to be coached up but they're ahead of the new guys in inexperience, development, and knowledge of the system and process. It is foolish to assume that every player that needs a year or two of preparation before being ready to display their talent is somehow a lost cause.

Bruin ... I saw a post in another thread about a 'ban bet' you made. Who did you bet and what was it for?
